About the Item

A Scandinavian modernist pendant lamp, model TR-67, designed by Alf Svensson and Yngvar Sandström for the Swedish manufacturer Bergbom & Co in the 1960s. It features a softly shaped shade made of Rotoflex plastic with cylindrical brass details. The Rotoflex technique, internationally known as Rotaflex, involves forming the shade by spinning continuous plastic cords into the desired shape. The lamp includes a solid oak cable shortener and the original white plastic ceiling canopy. The company Bergbom & Co was established in 1940 by the Swedish chocolate magnate Efraim Ljung, initially focusing on the production of ice cream machines. However, their manufacturing scope quickly expanded to include various lighting fixtures. Efraim Ljung was already deeply engaged in the Swedish design scene, as he was the founder of the renowned furniture manufacturer DUX and a prominent figure in the sales organization Bra Bohag. As a result, Bergboms lamps began making appearances in catalogs and magazines, often featured alongside iconic furniture pieces designed by Sweden's top designers. Today, Bergboms is perhaps best recognized for their version of the Greta Magnusson Grossman 'Grasshopper' floor lamp.
