About the Item

Gino Sarfatti Model 155 Ceiling Lamp for Arteluce, Italy, 1950, Brass & White Iconic mid-century Italian design by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce, with brass diffuser and elegant dish form, fully original and rare to find. This exceptional ceiling lamp, Model No. 155, was designed in 1950 by the celebrated Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce, Milano. Known for his innovative and sculptural approach to lighting, Sarfatti created this striking dish-shaped fixture using white lacquered aluminum with a brass-edged rim and a central brass diffuser shade. The diffuser features subtle die-cut perforations, producing a warm, intricate light pattern when illuminated. Its refined form and balanced proportions make it an elegant focal point in any interior, while its exceptional light diffusion underscores Sarfatti’s technical brilliance. This example is completely original and preserved in beautiful vintage condition. The white lacquered aluminum shows gentle wear consistent with age and use, while the brass edges display a rich, natural patina and minor surface losses, enhancing its authenticity. Both the lacquer and brass could be refinished to pristine condition if desired, though many collectors value its untouched character. With a diameter of 19.68 inches (50 cm) and a depth of 7.08 inches (18 cm), the Model 155 is substantial enough to make a design statement yet versatile for various applications—whether placed in a living room, dining area, or sophisticated entryway. Highly sought after and increasingly rare in original condition, this lamp is documented in Gino Sarfatti: opere scelte 1938–1973, page 400, affirming its importance in the history of Italian lighting design. Dimensions: Depth: 7.08 in / 18 cm Diameter: 19.68 in / 50 cm Condition: Original vintage condition; minor wear to lacquer; brass with warm patina; fully functional.
