Pair of Gae Aulenti Pipistrello Table Lamps

About

Designed in 1966, the Pipistrello lamp gets its name from the similarity the shape of the light diffuser has to bat wings. A beautiful and innovative design, the painted steel base supports an adjustable height neck and four-sided white plastic diffuser.

We acquired this pair from the original owner who bought the two lamps at different times. There are subtle differences between the lamps. For example one has a European plug socket, while the other is US standard. There are minor differences in the color and quality of the white bases and the diffusers, but these are only apparent when the lamps are side-by-side. In normal use in a room, they show very well together.
