About the Item

This exceptional pair of PH Boudoir mirrors, designed by Poul Henningsen and manufactured by Louis Poulsen in Denmark, 1939, exemplifies Henningsen’s innovative approach to design. Originally conceived in the late 1930s, these mirrors reflect the influence of the Bauhaus movement, which was characterized by its emphasis on functional and aesthetically refined design. Poul Henningsen, renowned for his pioneering work in lighting design, applied his vision to the mirror, aiming to enhance the traditional metal-backed “looking glass” with new features. The result is a mirror that not only offers a practical everyday function but also exudes a sense of luxury through its backlit illumination. This design choice was ahead of its time, blending functionality with a sophisticated touch. The PH Boudoir mirrors are crafted from matt white finished aluminum frame, with a metal structure that securely holds the mirror in place at the center. Each mirror is illuminated by three E14 bulbs, with a maximum wattage of 25 watts per bulb, providing a soft and evenly distributed light that enhances the mirror’s reflective qualities. The illumination ensures superior clarity and creates a warm, inviting glow. A thoughtful detail in Henningsen’s design is the pull cord switch, which is centrally located on the wall mount and not directly visible. This simple yet effective on/off switch underscores the minimalist philosophy of the design, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The mirrors are intended to blend seamlessly with a variety of interior styles, offering a versatile solution for any space. The pair of mirrors is offered in good original condition, though they do exhibit some wear consistent with age. The mirrors themselves can be replaced with new ones upon request, should you desire a pristine reflection. Each mirror is priced and sold individually, allowing for flexible purchasing options. Overall, these PH Boudoir mirrors are not only practical fixtures but also decorative pieces that embody Henningsen’s commitment to enhancing everyday objects with elegance and functionality.
