About the Item

Paolo Buffa (Milan 1903-1970), architect and designer, worked in the field of furniture design. Trained in the studio of Ponti and Lancia, from where he borrowed elements of neoclassical inspiration, in 1928, Buffa opened his own studio with Cassi Ramelli. In 1930 together they participated in the 4th International Exhibition of Decorative Arts (future Triennale), with a project for a "modern villa". Participation in the Triennials continues in 1933, this time individually, with a design for a studio corner for the "furniture exhibition"; he then appears among the signatories for the fitting out of the rooms of ENAPI (Ente Nazionale Artigianato e Piccole Industrie). Considered one of the most influential interior designers in the Milan area, from the 1950s he became the trusted architect of engineer Carlo Pesenti. Here we have wooden daybed with white mattress and two cuschions designed by Paolo Buffa in 50s for Lietti. Good condition, fully original.

20th Century Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina Daybed mod. Capocaccia
By Kazuhide Takahama, Gavina
Located in Turin, Turin
Kazuhide Takahama studied architecture at university in Tokyo from 1949, taking his degree in 1953. He's, however, primarily known as a furniture and lighting designer. Kazuhide Takahama met furniture-maker Dino Gavina in Milan in 1957 and remained in Italy to design for Gavina's firm. Kazuhide Takahama's designs are distinguished by clarity of line and form, qualities that reveal his Japanese origins. He often combines traditional forms and techniques with Western elements in his designs. Other collaborations worthy of mention are the one with the furniture giant B&B Italia or with lighting brands such as Sirrah and Nemo. He too worked a lot as an architect, especially in Bologna, where he created the facade of the city airport and all the bus shelters...
