About the Item

He’s a four-time Mr. Universe, seven-time Mr. Olympia. His films have grossed four billion dollars worldwide. He won the California governor’s race by a landslide. He has one of the most recognizable faces in the world, an oft-imitated accent, and a physique still heralded as the most perfect ever built. He’s Arnold, the one and only, with first name recognition worldwide, and now with a two-volume edition equal to his impressive size and unabashed ego. A decade of collaboration in the making, this photo tribute covers 75 years of Schwarzenegger, from the future Terminator’s impoverished childhood in Thal, Austria, to his rise as a young athlete, his journey to America to become the most celebrated bodybuilder of all time, to his career as the world’s leading action film star, then into the California governor’s mansion and beyond. Along the journey, Arnold’s muscular body, chiseled features, and charismatic personality made him a favorite subject of photographers, including Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Francesco Scavullo, and Andy Warhol. The big book includes them all, while the smaller companion volume gives you more intimate bodybuilding images, behind-the-scenes film stills, dozens of photos from Arnold’s personal archive, and exclusive interviews with Arnold and those who know him best, including directors Ivan Reitman and Bob Rafelson, and bodybuilding legends Franco Columbu, Dave Draper, and Frank Zane. The Capitello edition comes with a unique book stand – a 1:2 scale reproduction of the iconic Capitello chair, famously created by Studio65 in 1971 and produced by Gufram. Its pop subversion of the classic Greek ionic capital and column is a fitting homage to the Greek ideal embodied by Arnold’s famous physique. Capitello Edition (No. 101–950), numbered and signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, with a Capitello book stand designed by Studio65. Hardcover with ChromaLuxe aluminum print cover, 34.3 x 46.2 cm, 7.69 kg, 334 pages, in slipcase, plus companion volume, 556 pages, on a Capitello book stand designed by Studio65 in hand-finished soft polyurethane coated with Guflac®? Ultra, produced by Gufram ARNOLD is limited to 1,947 copies, each numbered and signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger: Art Edition (No. 1–100), with a ChromaLuxe print, numbered and signed by Annie Leibovitz, and a capitello book stand designed by Studio65. Capitello Edition (No. 101–950), with a Capitello book stand designed by Studio65. Collector’s Edition (No. 951–1,947), with the book in a slipcase and the accompanying companion volume.

Annie Leibovitz, XXL Edition Book
By TASCHEN, Annie Leibovitz
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Annie’s Big Book. 40 years of era-defining photography, now in an accessible edition. When Benedikt Taschen asked the most important portrait photographer working today, Annie Leibovitz, to collect her pictures in a SUMO-sized book, she was intrigued by the challenge. The project took several years to develop and when it was finally published in 2014, it weighed in at 26 kg (57 pounds). This incredible collection is now available in an accessible XXL book format. Leibovitz drew on more than 40 years of work, starting with the photojournalism she did for Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970s through the conceptual portraits she made for Vanity Fair and Vogue. She selected iconic images—such as John Lennon and Yoko Ono entwined in a last embrace—as well as portraits that had rarely, if ever, been seen before. The Annie Leibovitz SUMO...
