Provenance: Matthew Marks Gallery, NYC (label verso).
Artist Biography (courtesy of Guggenheim Musuem Collection)
Sam Taylor-Wood
B. 1967, LONDON
Sam Taylor-Wood was born in London in 1967. At the age of sixteen, she enrolled in an art school in Hastings, later moving back to London to attend Goldsmiths College. After graduating in 1990, she worked as a bartender and as a dresser at the Royal Opera House; the latter experience would influence her work’s unabashed theatricality. Originally a sculptor, she began working in photography, film, and video in the early 1990s. Her first film, 16mm (1993), consists of an isolated female figure gyrating to a steady beat. She explored similar intersections between video, dance, theater, music, film, and video in subsequent works, including Killing Time (1994), in which seemingly bored actors wait their turn to lip-synch the lines of different characters from Richard Strauss’s Electra. Her photographic work also finds points of intersection with other mediums. The title of Five Revolutionary Seconds (1995–98), for example, refers to her creation of a panoramic image by rotating her camera around a room over that period of time; the resulting image has a narrative quality despite being a static image. In recent years, Taylor-Wood has engaged ideas of celebrity culture in her work. Third Party (1999–2000), a seven-screen video installation at the Hayward Gallery in London, featured pop singer Marianne Faithful and actor Ray Winstone in different one- and two-person scenes of flirtation and ennui, creating a party-like environment in the gallery where the viewer is privy to these personal exchanges. Equal parts pathos and humor, the two-minute film Pietà (2001), in which the artist attempts to suspend the Hollywood actor and hard-living icon Robert Downey, Jr. in her arms, also evokes the well-known art historical subject. Her video David (2004) evokes similar connotations and intimately unveils the much-photographed dynamic soccer icon David Beckham in deep sleep. Time and speed are often centerpieces of her videos, whether the rapid acceleration of a bowl of fruit’s decay process in Still Life (2001) or the illusion of frozen time in The Last Century (2006), for which the actors are in fact filmed in real time but remain impossibly still. Taylor-Wood’s first narrative film, Love You More (2008), borrows its title from a song by the 70s punk band Buzzcocks and chronicles the story of two teenagers who hear the recently released song together in a record store.
Since her first show, Killing Time at the Showroom in London in 1994, Taylor-Wood has had solo exhibitions at White Cube in London (1995, 2001, 2004, and 2008), Kunsthalle Zürich (1997), Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. (1999), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid (2000), Centre National de la Photographie in Paris (2001), Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal (2002), Russian Museum in St. Petersburg (2004), Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (2006), Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland (2007), and Museum of Contemporary Art in Houston...

The All-American Boys, Signed by Walter Cunningham, First Updated Paperback 2004
Located in Colorado Springs, CO
Cunningham, Walter. The All-American Boys. New York: ibooks, Inc., 2004. First updated trade paperback edition. Octavo. Softcover. Signed by Walter Cunningham on the full title page.
This is the first trade paperback edition of the updated version of The All-American Boys, Walter Cunningham's candid look at America's space program. First published in 1977, this updated trade paperback printing was published by ibooks, Inc. in New York in September of 2004. The book is signed on the full title page, “Walt Cunningham, Apollo 7” in black ink.
The All-American Boys is a no-holds-barred candid memoir by the former Marine jet pilot and physicist, who became NASA's second civilian astronaut. From its insider's view of the pervasive "astropolitics" that guided the functioning of the astronaut corps, to its thoughtful discussion of the Shuttle Columbia tragedy, The All-American Boys resonates with Cunningham's passion for space travel and exploration. Cunningham brings readers into NASA's training program and reveals what it takes to be an astronaut. He poignantly relates the story of the devastating Apollo 1...

Mixed Media on Paper and Wood Behind Aryl Glass Mimmo Paladino, Italy 2009
Located in Salzburg, AT
Mixed media on paper and wood behind aryl glass Mimmo Paladino, Italy 2009 (2/20)
Mimmo Paladino found art inspired by his uncle, a painter who introduced him to traditional techniques at an early age. After attending the 1964 Venice Biennale, he made the decision to become an artist. He studied painting at the Liceo Artistico in Benevento from 1964 to 1968 and, influenced by Max Ernst and Paul Klee, experimented with collages, frottages and non-objective paintings. In 1968 he finished his academic training with a diploma and began to paint freely.
In the early to Mid-1970s, the artist dealt almost exclusively with mythological themes, such as the Icarus myth, which he translated into drawings. In the process, Paladino developed his own fresco-like technique, significant for his later work, in which he painted large-scale walls with pastel colors. Paladino had his first exhibition in 1977 at the "Galerie Lucio Amelio" in Naples. Several trips to Milan as well as contact with the art critic Tommaso Trini and the gallery owner Franco Toselli soon made Paladino known nationwide. In Toselli's gallery he presented his murals for the first time in 1978. That same year he traveled to New York, where he met Sandro Chia and Francesco Clemente. Several trips to Brazil followed.
In 1980 Mimmo Paladino, together with the publisher Emilio Mazzoli, published a book with texts by Achille Bonito Oliva. The art critic Oliva had introduced the term Transavanguardia at the end of the 1970s for the style of the new movement, mainly characterized by young Italian artists such as Chia, Clemente, Enzo Cucchi and Paladino, who found parallels in Germany with the Neue Wilde. In the same year Paladino participated in the Aperto 80 Biennale in Venice and in 1982 in the Biennale of Sydney. In the following years Paladino had exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum in Basel and at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Bologna. In 1999 he had an extensive retrospective at the Lenbachhaus in Munich and in the same year he became an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato dedicated an extensive retrospective to him in 2002/2003.[1] Works by Mimmo Paladino can be found in the collections of the Tate Gallery in London, the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in Dublin, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The artist lives and works in Milan and Benevento, Italy.
PLANT
Mimmo Paladino's works are often mixed media on paper or wood pre-sketched with drawing pencil, using all traditional means. His oeuvre includes watercolor, oil painting, and tempera, as well as collage, frottage, engraving, drypoint, or woodcut. Paladino's paintings are often untitled.

(certificate of authenticity provided)
N.B. Alexander Kosolapov's sculptures, paintings, and prints provoke harsh criticism, sometimes censorship, and often humor. His jokes are not partisan—they poke at both Russia and the United States. He appropriates imagery from Soviet history, pop culture, religion, and art history that he combines in often subversive ways. Taking a cue from Andy Warhol, Kosolapov delights in iconic symbols of American consumerist culture. For Kosolapov, these include Mickey Mouse, Marlboro, and Coca-Cola, images of which he links with political and religious figures central to Russian culture, including Stalin, Lenin, and Christ. He never forgets his place in the continuum of art history, often including some nod to artists who preceded him.
In Mickey-Lenin, the major players are obvious: Mickey Mouse and Vladimir Lenin, and the connotations come easily: East-West, Russia-United States, communism-capitalism, good-evil, and high-low. Kosolapov modeled the figure's body after statues of Lenin by the Soviet sculptor Nikolai Tomsky, and its pose is that of a classical Roman figure sculpted in the traditional medium of bronze. Kosolapov developed the idea for Mickey-Lenin shortly after immigrating to the United States in 1975. He found the discarded plastic head of a Mickey Mouse toy, took it home, and placed it atop a small sculpture of Lenin that he kept on his desk.
Kosolapov identifies with a movement known as Sots Art. Developed in Moscow in the 1970s by the art duo Komar and Melamid, Sots Art (an abbreviation of "socialist pop art") reacted against the conformist...
