About the Item

The tulus come from the highlands of central Anatolia. Village rugs, which are born in the family looms, are characterized by a very long fleece and a shiny and resistant wool. Abstract and essential motifs are decorated. They are not meant to be sold on western markets, but to provide a bed on which to sleep and cover themselves on cold nights. Thus the drawings, simple and schematized, refer to magical symbols intended to provide protection, abstract and essential motifs. Some refer to the motives of the tribal tradition while others are of pure invention.
