Luxurious 19th century French Empire, Napoleon III period, 1852-1870, satinwood gilt bronze mounted desk chair. Fine hand chased figural bronze mounts depicting classical maidens at the arm rests, rosettes, laurel leaf garlands and paw front sabots.. Exceptionally comfortable, spring upholstered seat, generous back and arm rests. Very good condition, reupholstered, good preservation to gilding with wear commensurate with age.

A festive fire is one of the great pleasures of winter and the warm glow of firelight on the fine French gilt bronze of these magnificent andirons will transform any room. Each composed of a circular reeded plinth topped with a handsome urn shaped finial and resting on a superb scrolled base with a central sea shell motif, acanthus leaf sides and beautifully modelled pomegranite form feet.
