About the Item

Rare & Exquisite Executive Lounge Chairs by Cees Braakman for Pastoe from the U+N Series 1950s. A truly exceptional find: this rare pair of executive lounge chairs from the iconic U+N Series by Cees Braakman for Pastoe, also known as the Japan/Japanese Series. Celebrated worldwide by design enthusiasts and collectors, this series stands as a hallmark of Dutch mid-century modern design. Unlike the more frequently encountered FM07 model, these executive versions are exceedingly rare and were produced in much smaller numbers. They are significantly larger and feature striking double-bend metal armrests. A bold and elegant design element that sets them apart and adds a striking statement to any interior. The chairs retain their original two-tone black and red wool upholstery, which offers a vivid contrast to the minimalist black frame. A frame also used in Braakman’s renowned Japanese Series sideboard. This cohesive design language enhances their collectibility and visual impact. They would make a gorgeous combination with this DU03 sideboard in an office or home-office setting. The original upholstery is in very good vintage condition, with only minor wear on three edges, consistent with their age and use. But due to their rare origin we opted not to re-upholster them but this can be discussed and arranged when desired. A rare opportunity to own a piece of design history in its most distinctive and hard-to-find form.
