Färg & Blanche Couture Cabinet Stained Black Ash Wood by BD Barcelona

Manufactured in natural ash wood or stained in black. Structure in anodic black lacquered steel. The doors carry simple patterns made using the Wood TailoringTM technique. Blue thread is applied stained black finish.
Materials:
Sideboard in stained black.
Structure in anodic black lacquered steel.
Available in natural ash.
Dimensions:
D 180 cm x W 39 cm x H 67 cm
D 71 in x W 15.3 in x H 26.3 in
About the designers:
Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche are a young couple of designers (with Swedish and French origins respectively) who sum up personality, technique and innovation. They have been developing a technique for various years in their Stockholm based studio, bapitising and registering it as Wood TailoringTM, which includes the use of sewing machines directly over hard materials like wood. The created patterns carry an aesthetic value and offer surprising and suggestive results much the same as the Couture armchair. Using the same technique which requires much artisanal ability, Färg & Blanche have also launched a very functional cabinet with simple decorations.
About BD Barcelona:
Accompanied with artisanal processes instead of mass production, their products always have more proximity to art than industrial design. Characterised by superior quality, short-series productions (and on occasion limited editions), and unique pieces due to crafted manufacturing. In the 70s, BD pleasantly surprised by editing Gaudí’s furniture...

b. 1966
Bio:
Born in Indiana, Jim Rose lived in Europe until he returned to the United States to attend college. After one year at Bard College, Jim transferred to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC) where he graduated in 1988 with a BFA. His skillful interpretation of the Shaker design is a result of intense research and field study of Shaker furniture, architecture, culture and history. After over two decades of dedicated work, he has mastered the minimalism of the Shaker technique and created his own unique visual vernacular. The quilts of Gee's Bend have become a monumental influence taking this artist's work to new levels of unique interpretation and artistry. His selection of aged steel results in a patina directly related to that of aged wood while his colored strips beautifully mimic worn cloth. Each piece of furniture is masterfully made and intended for daily use. Jim Rose’s steel furniture is featured every year at SOFA Chicago for the past 25 years.

St. Charles Mid-Century Modern Steel Kitchen Lower Cabinet, Original, 1940s
Located in Brooklyn, NY
St. Charles Mid-Century Modern steel lower kitchen cabinet, drawer, original, 1940s.
Measures: 10" W x 30.5”H x 18.5" D. Features a single shelf separating top and bottom sections. ' This listing is for “E” in image 3.
St. Charles was one of the earliest brands of steel cabinetry in the United States, dating back to 1935, when St. Charles bought Janes & Kirtland, maker of the “White House Line” steel. Steel kitchens were first developed in the second half of the 1920s and exclusive to extremely high-end (often exhibition) homes in the pre-WWII era. These early (pre-war) cabinets were quite streamlined and "deco" in their appearance. Typically white, ice gray or gentle cream color, they were customized to each home and considered the 'modern' and very "American" choice for the discerning client.

Norman Cherner Cabinet for Multiflex Corp.
Located in New York, NY
Modular "Studio Group" cabinet composed of walnut with a white micarta top, lacquered masonite doors and panels, and angle-steel pulls and frame. The “Curtainwall” principle applied to furniture, allowing easy extension in either a vertical or horizontal direction. An elegant riff on the Eames ESU, designed by Norman Cherner (along with Matthew Cooper) and manufactured by the Multiflex Corp circa 1954. The Studio Group was featured in George Nelson’s Storage book and was a MoMA Good Design selection in 1954. The present unit has two sliding door cabinets flanking a bank of three drawers. Behind each pair of sliding doors is a black masonite bottom and white masonite back. The frame, which disassembles to a large degree, is held together with brass buttons that are optionally visible on the outside (MoMA preferred visibility as expressive and suitable to the piece). Cherner famously designed the narrow-waisted Plycraft armchair along with an award-winning furniture line for Konwiser and was the author of the 1953 book Make Your Own Modern Furniture. Wall Box Cabinet in Cedar Green Powder Coated Steel by Ludvig Storm
Located in Brooklyn, NY
WALL BOX was born from the concept of creating a modular shelf system, which would easily change its visual image. The Backplate of the box is removable as it is attached with magnets. This means that one can choose to mix and match colours. By rotating the WALL BOX 90 degrees, the effect of the light entering the box changes
The back plate of the box is removable as it’s attached with magnets. Mix and match colors to create a dynamic flow with a setup of wall boxes in different color combinations. And because of the open side of the box, you can, by rotating the Wall BOX, change the light and visual image. Use it for your records or to show off your book collection. The box is made out of powder coated steel and is available in three different colours: Ash Grey, Ceder Green and Navy Blue. The back is made out of powder coated steel and is available in the following colours: Ash Grey, Ceder Green, Fig Purple, Indian Red, Navy Blue and Turmeric Yellow. If a Navy Blue Wall BOX is purchased a Navy Blue back plate will follow. If a Cedar Green...
