Vintage Pacific Northwest Coast Native Wooden Hawk Carving by William Wasden Jr
Located in Philadelphia, PA
A fine vintage Pacific Northwest Native wooden carving. The carving in the form of an hawk with red, black, white, and yellow tones set on a brown wooden board. By William Wasden Jr. Wasden was trained from a very young age in numerous artistic practices of the Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw peoples including carving, jewelrymaking, and printing. As a high schooler, he began focusing primarily on preserving traditional singing after hearing his grandfather perform. Wasden currently teaches singing in Alert Bay on Cormorant Island, British Columbia. He also heads the Gwa'wina Dancer's Cultural Society, whose mission is to spread authentic Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw culture & teachings. In Kwakwaka'wakw art, human faces are placed strategically on animal carvings to indicate the creature's supernatural ability to transform into a human form. Kwakwaka'wakw origin myths say that their ancestors were originally animals of various kinds who discarded their animal forms and transformed into humans. Simply a wonderful piece of Pacific Northwest Native art...

Austrian 19th Century Patinated Bronze, Giltwood and Ebony Wall Plaque
Located in West Palm Beach, FL
An exceptional and most decorative Austrian 19th century patinated bronze, giltwood and Ebony wall plaque signed K. Sterrer. The striking wall decor is centered by the wonderfully executed patinated bronze plaque depicting a handsome sculptor in his atelier draped in a flowing garment working on a bust of a woman resting on a stool while holding his hammer and chisel. He is standing on a wall bracket like element with an impressive open winged eagle above an acorn finial, a tied carpenter's square and a tied bell hammer with a caliper and fine foliate branches at his feet. In the background is a beautiful maiden also draped in a wonderful flowing garment siting with her legs crossed on the plinth of a capital where another maiden, possibly a statue, is standing with a globe and sextant in her hand with plaques, busts, wings and curtains above. The plaque is set within an elegant mottled giltwood frame with beautiful richly carved wrap around berried laurel bands with a fine angled ebonized Fruitwood border. All original gilt and patina throughout. Karl Sterrer...

19th Century Meerschaum with Scene, Birth of Christ in Frame
Located in Delft, NL
19th Century Meerschaum with scene, Birth of Christ in frame A meerschaum depicting the birth of Christ in a black oval frame behind convex glass, dating from the early 19th Century. Meerschaum is known, which is used to make pipes and is found in areas such as Crimea, Bosnia, Greece, Spain, Tanzania but especially in Turkey. Meerschaum is a greasy, soft type of stone. A special property of meerschaum is its light weight. It floats in water for a while before slowly sinking. When completely soaked in water, it cuts like soap. When dry, the processing is comparable to softer woods. Finally, fire ensures that it hardens somewhat and that is precisely what is suitable for pipes to give the object sufficient strength. Meerschaum is well known of the smoking pipes...

This recent triptych from the w o o d p o p studio is an example of the type of modern marquetry that w o o d p o p is becoming synonymous with. Since its inception 10 years ago - the studio has specialised in marquetry and inlay work; meticulous art-forms where pieces of wood veneer are inlaid to create decorative designs or pictures. Emma Wood, who founded the studio 10 years ago in Wales' Black Mountains has gained a reputation for pairing this traditional art-form with contemporary subject matter and its application on to non-traditional surfaces. Art Wall Panel Red Relief Decorations Handmade in Italy by Cupioli Available
Located in Rimini, IT
Red wall Art Panel with decorations in relief Handmade in Italy by Cupioli . Scagliola art panel decoration in relief realised on a wooden support and with a white wooden frame to decorate your walls. "Preposition with which the Heraclitis express the eternal becoming of reality, comparing the latter to a river that only apparently remains one and identical, but which in fact continually renews itself and transforms itself, so that it is not given to dive into it more than once, because the second time strictly speaking it is not the same river as the first one. This conception constitutes the antithesis of that of the absolute eternal unity and immutability of being. In one fragment Heraclitus emphasizes that man can never experience twice as much, since every entity, in its apparent reality, is subjected to the inexorable law of change Artistical Technique: Scagliola art on wood panel...
