"Promise of Hope", Art Deco Painting with Male Nude and Dove, Sweden
About the Item
Painted in a lovely, colorful palette and full of hope and symbolism, this painting by Jocke Åkerblom depicts a standing male nude figure looking into the distance, the sky swathed in a broad rainbow, and a dove overhead with its wings spread wide. Åkerblom studied at the Stockholm Academy of Fine Arts in the 1920s, and a scholarship permitted him to travel and paint in Paris, Berlin and Corsica. He exhibited widely, and painted the human figure often. A painting of his is in the collection of the the Moderna Museet (modern art museum) in Stockholm. The painting is on prepared wood panel. It is one of a series by the artist offered by Renaissance Man Antiques, all dating to 1937.
