The creators behind our contemporary creations are some of the most imaginative on the scene, from Nao Tamura's ethereal approach to lighting to Jasper Morrison's industrial-inspired aesthetic.

Finding the Creators of Tomorrow
"1stDibs is a marketplace that includes a full arc of styles and typologies. Although there is a lot of variation within such a collection, all of these pieces are united by high-quality design and fabrication. This includes everything from traditional and transitional furnishing, maximalist statement pieces and conceptual collectible design. Although each of these categories is different, they can be evaluated similarly.
We live in a time where the scale of material culture is unprecedented, and there has never been a more accessible ecosystem to discover new work. Like most of us, I get lost in social media rabbit holes where I can discover work I've never heard of, practically on a daily basis. When I find works that I'm interested in, I research the designers to learn more about them. Because design doesn't happen in a vacuum, exploring the context in which a designer works usually leads to the manufacturers and editors they work with — as well as the exhibitions, galleries and studios with which they're associated. My favorite way of discovering showroom-ready pieces is to visit design fairs (fall is the best season). I'm always excited to see what's happening in Milan, Paris, Helsinki and London. And, I always look forward to seeing the new crop of graduate work coming out of top programs like Eindhoven, ECAL, Cranbrook and RISD."
