About the Item

The Spanish Empire found riches in the Potosi mine in Peru, and for years a large series of rough silver "cobs" were minted there including the "pieces of eight" of pirate fame. This particular coin displays the date of 1772 and number "2" signifying the valuation of 2 reales on one side and the cross of Castile and Leon on the other. It is mounted within an artisan crafted oxidized sterling and line textured 18K gold setting designed by Steven Battelle. The pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity, The oxidized sterling and 18K gold mixed chain shown is not included but can be ordered additionally. A wonderful piece of history from that period!
