Spanish Colonial Bolivia 1600's Eight Reales Coin Diamonds 18K Gold Pendant
About the Item
A large silver "8 reales" coin minted at the Potosi mine in Colonial Bolivia in the 1600's displays a cross with castles and lions, representing the realms of Castile and Leon in Spain. The opposite side is a coat of arms with assayer mark. The 8 reales coin, also known as the Spanish dollar or piece of eight, was a silver coin minted in the Spanish Empire for over three centuries. It became one of the most widely circulated coins in the world, particularly in the Americas and Asia. The Potosí mine was discovered in 1545 and quickly became the world's largest source of silver. For centuries, it fueled the Spanish Empire's economic and political power, churning out an estimated 60% of the world's silver supply. This high-grade historic coin is set in a Steven Battelle designed handmade matte-finish 18K gold setting with three 2mm VS1 diamonds at the apex points next to small "jawan" granulation. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Impressive!

He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
