Rare Japan Shakudo Snake Ring 14 Karat Gold Antique Victorian Samurai circa 1870
Located in New York, NY
This is a very rare ring depicting a snake traveling through the grass in the historic Japanese art form of Shakudo, in 14 Karat Gold. The Shakudo pieces originated in the Samurai period in Japan and were created by esteemed artists who made ornaments to adorn swords and armor. When the Samurai period ended, these artists moved to making wearable art during the period of the 1870s - 1900. Here we have a very rare Shakudo piece of a snake traveling through grass. Notice the grace of the proportion of the images and the Japanese esthetic of asymmetry. The mixed metals Shakudo plaque is set in 14 Karat Gold. In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love. It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom. Snake jewelry is highly desirable and collected today. Provenance: From the collection of the legendary Edith Weber Jewelry from Edith Weber was worn on the red carpets of the Academy Awards and graced many major national magazines. Her store at The Carlyle was described as a historical jewel box with esoteric jewelry...

Antique Micromosaic Fishing Boat Pendant of 14k Gold
Located in Lewisburg, PA
Georgian Micromosaic Pendant Depicting a Fishing Boat, Set in 14k Gold (Circa 1830) A poetic glimpse into the past, this extraordinary pendant was meticulously crafted using an antique micromosaic salvaged from a Georgian-era paperweight, dating to circa 1830. At its heart lies a serene maritime tableau: a solitary fishing boat gently adrift, rendered in minute glass tesserae that capture the motion of water and the stillness of sky with astonishing delicacy. Each tessera in this micromosaic was hand-set by an Italian artisan nearly two centuries ago—an exceptional feat of micro-engineering and artistic expression. The composition exemplifies the finest traditions of early 19th-century Roman micromosaics, where painstaking craftsmanship meets evocative imagery. We have given this antique artwork new life by carefully resetting it in a custom 14k gold bezel, crafted to both protect and complement the mosaic. The softly glowing frame enhances the vivid hues of the glass and transforms the piece into a wearable relic of refined history. The pendant measures approximately 1.3 inches from the top of the bail to the base and spans 1 inch across. It weighs 10.15 grams and remains in excellent condition. All tesserae are securely intact, and the gold setting is crisp and polished, showing only the lightest signs of age consistent with its antique nature. Gold purity has been verified using both X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and traditional acid testing, ensuring authenticity and lasting value. Materials: Hand-set Italian micromosaic glass tesserae; 14k gold Provenance: Adapted from an early 19th-century micromosaic paperweight...

Verge Crown Wheel Key Winding 18K Yellow Gold Ornate Pocket Watch
Located in Washington Depot, CT
Verge Crown Wheel Key Winding 18K Yellow Gold Ornate Pocket Watch Approx. 48 mm in diameter, 18 mm thick Stamped SH JW with English Gold Hallmarks inside the case. Date mark of F with square box around it. 61.3 dwt / 95.4g The verge (or crown wheel) escapement is the earliest known type of mechanical escapement, the mechanism in a mechanical clock that controls its rate by allowing the gear train to advance at regular intervals or 'ticks'. Its origin is unknown. Verge escapements were used from the late 13th century until the mid 19th century in clocks and pocketwatches. The name verge comes from the Latin virga, meaning stick or rod.[1] Its invention is important in the history of technology, because it made possible the development of all-mechanical clocks. This caused a shift from measuring time by continuous processes, such as the flow of liquid in water clocks...
