Art Nouveau Antique Seagull Diamond Enamel Gold Brooch France

About the Item

Extremely rare Art Nouveau brooch of a seagull. The finely modelled bird is decorated with guilloché-enamel in pale blue, green and pink iridescent colours. The bird is made out of 18K gold and is engraved with feathers underneath the enamel. Even the reverse of the seagull is covered in enamel. The wings are decorated with rose diamonds set in platinum. The seagull has a golden beak and platinum eyes. The metal pin is detachable and there is a fitting for an alternative use of the seagull. The seagull is a fine example for French Art Nouveau jewellery around 1895 to 1900.
