This is one of the most unusual Illinois pocket watches I have ever seen. The white heavy gold filled case has a unique "hand hammered" finish to it. Even more unique is the original dial done with a red stippled or crackled background. I have never seen this unusual dial on any pocket watch. The hands are original as well and done in blued steel. Case: The beautifully engraved heavy 18ct yellow gold case with the front cover covered with a garland of flowers, foliage and a vacant cartouche. The back cover is again richly engraved with garlands of flowers and foliage with the oval cartouche engraved with a bird sitting on a nest with eggs. The inner gold cover is engraved Cronometro, the serial number and A. Huguenin & Sons Locle with an engine turned surround. The repeater slide is on the side of the case. The cases are all Swiss Hallmarked and numbered.

Dial: A superb 18ct gold dial with raised Roman gold numerals outer dotted minute track and engine turned centre. The original blued steel Breguet moon hands complimenting the dial beautifully.
Case: The excellent heavy rose gold case English hallmarked for London 1818 with engine turned back cover. The inner cover numbered and signed Des Granges Late Recordon Cockspur Street Charing Cross London. The case maker was Thomas Hardy, a very famouse case maker of his time. The top of the pendant lifts up and turns then is depressed to make the watch chime.
Movement: The gilt metal finished movement with a flat arm balance, slow fast regulation Duplex escapement hanging barrel and the wheels for the repeating works visible. The hammers and gongs are also visable. The watch chimes the hours and quarters clearly.
This watch is indeed rare and important as it is double signed by Des Granges late Recordon who was the main agent in London for Abraham Louis Breguet. It also has a Duplex escapement which was used to achieve a higher accuracy of time keeping. Des Granges was a pupil of Josiah Emery...

Case: The 18ct yellow gold Half Hunter case with beautiful translucent enamel surrounding the aperture of pink and blue with blue enamel Roman numerals. The plain case back opening to reveal the inner case back which is engraved with a description of the movement and the makers name J M Badollet & Cie A Geneve. The cases are all Swiss hallmarked and stamped with the makers mark. The repeater slide is at the side of the case.
