"Mercury Retrograde" Oil Painting (FRAMED) 30" x 23.5" inch by Isaac Pelayo
By Isaac Pelayo
Located in Culver City, CA
"Mercury Retrograde" Oil Painting (FRAMED) 30" x 23.5" inch by Isaac Pelayo Medium: Oil, oil stick, and aerosol on wood Comes in antique frame (wood & gold leaf) Size framed: 39" x 33" inch ABOUT THE ARTIST: Isaac Pelayo is a head on crash collision between The Renaissance and Street Art. In a household where constant turmoil and violence were more apparent than most a young Pelayo met escape and peace within the confines of himself and his own creativity. Hispanic born in the heavy beating heart of Los Angeles on the seventh day of June 1996. Pelayo was caught in the crossfires of everything that surrounded him but art served as his only guidance. After dropping out of college Pelayo turned from his hyperrealistic pencil portraits to oil painting where his passions grew more immensely. As of today Pelayo’s work is most influenced and fueled by the crème de la crème of old master painters like Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Velazquez as well as graffiti artists such as RETNA, Shepard Fairey, and EL MAC. In 2017 his work caught the attention and landed in the firm grasp of renown rapper and collector Alvin “Westside Gunn” Worthy. He has created several album covers and artworks for the Buffalo rap moguls music label Griselda Records including his personal collection. Pelayo’s paintings are widely recognized and sought out from all over the globe. His collectors include Sean “Diddy” Combs, Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher, Jeff Hamilton, Shepard Fairey, Jaysse Lopez, and Everlast of House of Pain...

Austrian Folk Saying Grace Before Dinner
Located in San Francisco, CA
This work by Austrian artist Ivo Saliger (1894-1987) is an expression of devotion, of a tradition central to Austrian life a century ago. Then, Austria had a strong Catholic heritage, supported by more than six centuries of Hapsburg rule. The subjects of this reverential painting appear to be members of a family wearing traditional Austrian "tracht" or dress. Hands clasped in prayer, they are about to dine together, with the elder parents joined by their grown children and perhaps a spouse. Resolving any doubt in the viewer’s mind about the activity, a crucifix hangs above the gathering in the dining area’s corner adjacent to a painting of the Virgin Mary...

Circus Wagons
By Millard Sheets
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This watercolor is part of our exhibition America Coast to Coast: Artists of the 1930s Circus Wagons, 1927, watercolor on paper, signed and dated lower left, 10 x19 ¾ inches (sight), provenance includes Stary-Sheets Art Gallery (Gualala, CA); J. Ralph & Louis Stone Foundation; presented in a newer metal frame behind glazing About the Painting Millard Sheets was only twenty years old and in his third year of studies at the Chouinard Art Institute when he painted Circus Wagons. Despite his youth, Sheets was already an accomplished artist who had publicly exhibited his work and won prestigious prizes. Within several years, he would have his first solo exhibition at one of Los Angeles’ premiere galleries and become a painting instructor at his alma mater. In Circus Wagons we already see Sheets deft handling of the watercolor medium and his interest in the California Scene. In this case, Sheets captures a back lot view of a traveling circus, a subject he sometimes returned to, including in a color screen print in the collection of the National Gallery. Sheets made a career by painting what he knew and observed firsthand. This approach allowed Sheets to capture with authenticity the details of each narrative. Even with a narrowly limited palette and an economy of brushstrokes, Sheets effectively depicts the southern California scene with its strong and mysterious shadows, as well as the workers and circus animals. Seen through the hindsight of his six-decade long career, Circus Wagons offers a fascinating insight into the early development of California Scene painting which would by the mid-1930s become the best recognized style on the West Coast. About the Artist Millard Sheets was the dean of California watercolorists. His list of accomplishments is so extensive that his entry in Who was Who in American Art is over forty lines. Born in Pomona, California, Sheets became a painter at an early age, winning a prize at the Los Angeles County Fair in 1918. By the mid to late-1920s, Sheets became a regular at art exhibitions in the western part of the United States, winning several additional prizes before he reached the age of twenty-five. Sheets studied at the prestigious Chouinard Art Institute from 1925 through 1929 with Frank Tolles Chamberlin and Clarence Hinkle and had his first solo show with Los Angeles’ Dalzell Hatfield Gallery in 1929. During the 1930s, Sheets was invited to exhibit at almost every major American Museum and in many ways, his work came to represent the California watercolor school...

Marilyn "A Wise Girl" Large Original Marilyn Monroe Textural Oil Painting
By Christina Major
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Christina Major’s "Marilyn - A Wise Girl" is a striking contemporary portrait that seamlessly blends realism with expressive text overlays, creating an artwork that is both visually arresting and conceptually rich. Measuring 77.5 x 64 inches, this mixed-media painting captures the timeless allure of Marilyn Monroe, her piercing gaze and iconic red lips emerging through layers of hand-painted script. The interplay of cool and warm tones enhances the depth of her expression, while the carefully integrated text—featuring Monroe’s own words—adds a narrative dimension that invites viewers to reflect on the contrast between fame and vulnerability. A captivating fusion of portraiture and typographic abstraction, this piece is a statement work for collectors drawn to figurative art, pop culture icons, and contemporary oil paintings. Christina Major is a portrait painter interested in the ways the identity of both artist and subject can coexist in a painting. Major's current creative research focuses on the traditional form of the portrait as a powerful form of representing an individual and how meaning can be expanded through scale, brushstroke, color, texture, composition, and the many variables that portraiture deals with. This one-of-a-kind oil painting is 77.5 inches tall and 64.5 inches wide. It is signed by Major on the back. The artwork is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and International shipping are also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Major expands the traditional portrait painting...

"Family at the Fairground" by Painter Edgar Kiechle
Located in Pasadena, CA
The oil painting features a family at the fairground stopping by the ice cream stand. An elegant mother hands a treat to one of her three children, while another holds his ice cream, and the last one a red balloon. A couple with a child stands on the left part of the painting, while in the background, men sitting on stools face a cook at a counter. The latter looks down and focuses on preparing food for his clients. The overall impression is joyful and lively, though it looks more like the end of the day because of the dark warm colors used by the artist to depict the scene. Edgar O. Kiechle was born in 1911. He was a movie illustrator and a painter. Edgar studied landscape painting with Jean Mannheim, and architecture, and became an excellent watercolorist. After studying at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, he interned with leading architects and designers in the area. He worked at most major studios but his career as an illustrator saw him primarily at the Universal Studio Art department. In 1933, Edgar joined Lwerks as a background artist and worked on many films produced by Animated Picture Corporation through 1935. In the summer of 1941, Edgar Kiechle...

By Adolf Arthur Dehn
Located in Soquel, CA
A spectacular mid-century modern Manhattan figurative landscape oil painting, after the renowned artist Adolf Arthur Dehn's 1941 watercolor "Spring in Central Park", by an unknown artist (American, 20th Century). In this vibrant and expressive circa 1960 rendition of Dehn's famed painting, New Yorkers are depicted as tiny figures milling about the park in springtime, dwarfed by fluffy pink trees in bloom and the towering New York City skyline in the distance. Unsigned. Presented in a wood frame. Image size: , 29"H x 36"L. Framed: 32"H x 39"W.
