18th Century French Aubusson Pastoral Scene Tapestry Titled "Le Repas Champetre"
By David Teniers the Younger
Located in Dallas, TX
This elegant, antique tapestry was handwoven in the city of Aubusson, France, circa 1750. The iconic tapestry, "The Pastoral Meal" with foliage decor on both sides, features a joyous pastoral scene in the manner of David Teniers, with people eating and chatting around a wooden table and benches. There is also two people dancing with a flute player, and a dog asking for leftover food. The wall hanging tapestry with its original border, is in excellent condition and has a rich colors in the soft blue, beige and green palette. A new canvas backing was added for protection.
The Aubusson tapestry manufacture of the 17th and 18th century managed to compete with the royal manufacture of Gobelins tapestry and the privileged position of Beauvais tapestry. Tapestry manufacture at Aubusson, in the upper valley of the Creuse in central France, may have developed from looms in isolated family workshops established by Flemings that are noted in documents from the 16th century.
Typically, Aubusson tapestries depended on engravings as a design source or the full-scale cartoons from which the low-warp tapestry-weavers worked. As with Flemish and Parisian tapestries...

19th Century Persian Shahsavan Soumak Mafrash Tribal Cargo Bag Panel
Located in Barrington, IL
This exquisite 19th-century Persian Shahsavan Soumak Mafrash is a rare and highly collectible example of tribal textile artistry. Unlike most examples that survive with only a single panel, this remarkable piece retains both original side panels and the flat-woven kilim base, offering a more complete and authentic representation of the original form. Rich in cultural significance and visual impact, this textile is a true masterpiece of nomadic craftsmanship—perfect for connoisseurs, collectors, or interior designers seeking a striking and storied accent for sophisticated spaces.

19th Century Persian Baluch Tribal Double Saddlebag in Blue, Pale Yellow, Navy
Located in Barrington, IL
Discover a rare and authentic artifact of nomadic artistry with this Late 19th Century Persian Baluch Tribal Soumak Double Saddlebag, meticulously handwoven circa the 1800s. This complete saddlebag, also known as a "khorjin" in Persian, is a testament to the ingenuity and aesthetic sensibilities of the Baluch tribes. It's a particularly desirable find, as it retains both its original side panels and the connecting flat-woven (kilim) back, allowing for a comprehensive appreciation of its form and function.
The front of the bag features a captivating beautiful geometric design in a nuanced green/blue color, set against a warm pale yellow background. The subtle variations in the green/blue tones, a result of the natural dyeing process, add immense depth and visual interest. The back of the Baluch double saddlebag is crafted with a sturdy flat-woven kilim in a rich palette of brown and rust red, providing a striking contrast to the intricately designed front.
These Baluch saddlebags are renowned for their stunning colors and intricate designs, which are a direct result of using fine wool for both the pile (where applicable) and the foundation, coupled with the masterful application of organic vegetable dyes. This ensures a rich, enduring palette that includes deep navy, vibrant red, and beautiful blues and yellows. Originally, these functional yet artistic bags were indispensable for nomadic tribes, used to transport household items during their seasonal migrations. This exceptional double bag set offers a unique glimpse into a rich cultural heritage, making it a highly collectible and visually compelling addition for interior designers, home decorators, and individual customers seeking authentic tribal art.

Mid-Century Folkloric Tapestry of Four Schoolgirls in Traditional Dress
Located in Barrington, IL
This vibrant mid-century handwoven tapestry captures a charming folkloric scene of four schoolgirls dressed in traditional attire, brought to life through a radiant palette of autumnal hues—crimson, golden yellow, burnt orange, and soft lavender. Rich in texture and emotion, the tapestry exudes warmth, storytelling, and nostalgia, making it a captivating example of vintage textile art.
Reminiscent of Marc Chagall’s dreamlike murals at the Metropolitan Opera House, the composition masterfully balances expressive color with whimsical charm. Each figure is rendered with a poetic mix of abstraction and detail, lending the piece visual movement and emotional resonance.
This one-of-a-kind artisan wall hanging is a perfect statement piece for mid-century modern interiors, folk art collections, or textile art galleries. A rare fusion of craftsmanship, imagination, and vintage soul—ideal for collectors, designers, and those drawn to narrative art with a timeless feel.
