Kate Auerbach 'Spider Web' Weaving

About the Item

Signed KA lower right .From 'the golden age' of American Crafts a very rare Abstract Expressionist weaving by the NYC artisan Kate Auerbach. A similar weaving (plate 290) is illustrated in 'The Crafts of the Modern World' Rose Slivka Horizon Press 1968. Auerbach was a member of the group that exhibited together-"Artist Craftsmen of New York". See Craft Horizons Sep/Oct 1967, and The New York Times May 6 1964, where her works are referred to as 'Spider Web Weavings'.
