Exceptional Louis XVI style gilt bronze and malachite grandfather clock French, late 19th century Measures: Height 250cm, width 54cm, depth 33cm This superb longcase clock is a wonderful example of the Belle Époque impetus to draw inspiration from the styles of the past. The clock, crafted during the late nineteenth century—though the malachite finish is later—is inspired by a famous eighteenth-century original. The clock is of traditional form, which a cubic clock case inset with an enamel dial and a gilt bronze bezel cast with signs of the zodiac. The central section of the clock includes a window, which reveals the pendulum inside, while the lower section is in the form of a plinth. The malachite veneer is wonderfully varied, with lighter and darker shades of the stone utilised to add visual interest. The clock is surmounted by a sculpture in gilt bronze of Apollo in his chariot, pulled by a quadriga of horses. The dial is signed for Rosel Bruxelles...

This colorful pedestal clock has been crafted from fine red marble and green onyx, and beautifully decorated with gilt bronze (ormolu) and champlevé enamel. While a popular crafts material in ancient times, onyx was largely forgotten about until its rediscovery in the mid-19th century in Algeria by a French marble-worker called Delmonte. Onyx became highly fashionable in France following this discovery, and it was used to create a variety of decorative art objects. The clock features a green onyx cube-shaped case, which is surmounted by a slightly projecting red marble top. This top is fringed with champlevé enamel drapery-like motifs, with gilt bronze drop-finials. The case is mounted on its front with a circular dial, which features a central floral champlevé enamel motif, encircled by black Arabic Numerals. This very early 1800s Danish Bornholm Grandfather clock was peobably made around 1800-1820. It has beautiful detail and the paint is generally good as you can see with the gold detailing turning bronze with age. It has the usual amount of cracking and wood movement for its age but its structurally sound although needs delicate handling. It comes with the original clockwork, pendulum and weights which may work but it is not function tested The clock is sold 'as is' : as a decorative piece only with the original mechanism and pendulum but not guaranteed to be in working order - If you want it working we can fit a professional hi torque battery mechanism for time keeping ( +£250) or you can have a great sounding chiming mech which replays the recorded chime through a small speaker with a volume control and 8 hour night off switch (+£350) or you can choose to have you local clockman clean / repair and set up the original clockwork mechanism at your location to get it going The battery mech change if you choose that option takes approximate 2-3 weeks. This superb George I period antique longcase clock by Daniel Delander is cased in highly figured walnut veneer of lovely colour and patina. Standing on a double plinth there is a panelled base and moulded trunk door. The pull forward hood is flanked by quarter columns with brass capitals. The case retains the original caddy top surmounted by two finials. The square dial has an applied chapter ring with cherubin spandrels. The dial centre is finely matted with an engraved date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. The original blued steel hands appear to be original and are finely wrought and pierced. French Renaissance style gilt bronze and enamel mounted onyx longcase clock French, late 19th century Measures: Height 126cm, width 37cm, depth 30cm This colourful longcase clock was created in France in the late 19th Century. It has been crafted from red marble and green onyx and decorated with gilt bronze and champlevé enamel. The clock consists of a circular enamel dial, mounted onto a cube-shaped case, placed on a tall body which is set on a short marble plinth. The circular clock dial features Arabic numerals and is ornamented with gilt bronze and colourful champlevé enamel designs. This is set within a circular gilt bronze and enamel frame and mounted onto the green onyx block. The corners of the block are lined with gilt bronze bands, and the sides are set with circular, gilt-bronze-framed champlevé enamel forms. A superb Charles II month duration floral marquetry longcase clock by the well-known maker John Wise, c. 1680-85. Measure: 10". The case is of the highest quality and decorated throughout in very attractive floral marquetry depicting spring flowers and birds showing a high level of sophistication with a glazed circular lenticle to the door. Similarly, the rising hood is decorated with blind frets around the top and surmounted by a shallow caddy decorated by five gilt wooden ball finials. It is flanked by prominent gilt brass-capped solid barley twist columns, with blind fretted panels to the sides. The month-going nicely finned and knopped five pillar movement has reversed going and striking trains, the striking train (on the right) being regulated by a small outside countwheel. The going train has anchor escapement and a seconds pendulum. The movement is fronted by a 10-inch brass dial with an unusual narrow silvered chapter ring, seconds ring and date aperture. It has elaborate cherub-head spandrels in the corners and is signed along the bottom John Wise Londini Fecit. The middle is finely matted, whilst the time is indicated by a fine pair of blued-steel hands, the hour hand richly pierced. The maker John Wise was born in Banbury shortly before 17 March 1624, the date of his baptism. He was the son of John and Ann Wise and a cousin of Joseph Knibb...
