19th Century Blue Yellow Red Geometrical 3 Medallions Rare Soumakh, circa 1870
Located in Firenze, IT
The weaving technique makes the Sumakh easily recognizable because on the front; they have a smooth and sackable surface; on the back, there are countless polychrome wires left pendulous or passed from an area to another of the carpet. The Sumakh technique is based on the winding of warp threads instead of arguing. Unusual and imposing, our specimen's decoration is characterized by four large star-connected striped medallions along the median carpet axis, lying on a blue night background. The other characterizing element of this sumakh is the ancient Horn decor...

20th Century Black Garden Karabagh Kilim Rug in Wool Hand-Knotted with Parrots
Located in Firenze, IT
Kilim of the Karabagh (literally "black garden"), region of the Caucasus where carpets and Kilim were knotted under the influence of the Persian tradition. Starting from the 18th century, the decoration of the carpets finds new inspiration in the decorative motifs come from the western world. The new production of carpets and kilims, at the beginning is realized on commissions of the Russian nobility that appreciated the taste and the French style, to then become a typical production of this area. These artefacts flanked the traditional production, but then with this it became confused creating new original compositions. The composition of the decoration is only partly inspired by the Western world, which is reinterpreted to create an artefact of great decorative impact. In the Kilim the western style is combined with a chromatic taste typical of this region. The dark background in natural wool brings out the colorful decoration, the figures of four little parrots stand...
