20th Century Brown Green and Red Flower Rose Caucasian Karabagh Rug, 1950s

About the Item

Carpet with design Gul farange, literally foreign flower. One of the most beautiful decorative motifs of all Caucasian and Oriental rugs in general. The origin of the motif is French and is the rose, testifying to the eclecticism and influence of Western taste in these rugs. Their main characteristic is precisely in reinterpreting themes and ornamental motifs of cultures and traditions with which nomadic peoples of the Caucasus have come into contact. In our example the repeated motif pattern most commonly used for geometric designs is used. The dark brown of the background and the cochineal red of the flowers are also typical of Karabagh production.
