Vintage Sommerso Murano Bowl/Paperweight in Purple and Yellow Glass, Flavio Poli
By Flavio Poli
Located in Milano, IT
Universally regarded as one of the most prolific and capable designers of Murano glass vases and objects at large, Flavio Poli teamed up with some of the most influential and skilled glass producers of Murano to create timeless design pieces. Amongst all his works, those that gained him the most fame are without doubt the "Sommersi", a style that was quickly imitated by other makers and is still very popular to these days. They are vases, ashtrays, paperweights characterized by the juxtaposition of vibrant colors in contrasting tones that generate a beautiful overall aspect: the original collection earned him the Golden Compass...

By Vittorio Zecchin
Located in Torino, IT
Large centerpiece plate, design Vittorio Zecchin (1878-1947) in blown Murano glass. Origin Italy Period 40s Author Vittorio ZECCHIN (Murano, May 21, 1878 - Murano, April 15, 1947) was an Italian artist. Son of a Murano glassmaker, Luigi, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Impatient with the late nineteenth-century realist culture that he encounters here, he feels rather attracted by the stimuli offered by the Venetian Biennials that he attends by coming into contact with symbolist research and with the environment of the Viennese Secession. In 1914, together with the painter Teodoro Wolf Ferrari...

Caviar Holder in Plated Silver by E. Stefani
Located in Milano, IT
A truly extraordinary set of silver-plated caviar servers from the 1970s, bearing the emblem of E. Stefani, an iconic Italian company that has left its mark on the history of silversmithing. This set is a living testament to the skill and tradition of Italian craftsmanship. The caviar containers are elegantly crafted in the shape of seashells, and each of these six shells is equipped with spherical feet to ensure stability and elegance on the table. Alongside these marvels, you'll find an exceedingly small spoon, a detail that adds further refinement to this unique collection. It should be noted that over time, a thin layer of oxide may have formed on the surface of these pieces, an indelible mark of their past. However, this only enhances their charm, telling the story of each use and adding a touch of vintage authenticity. The set consists of six vintage caviar shells...

Ancient Italian Renaissance Maiolica Crespina, Faenza, 1580 Circa
Located in Milano, IT
Crespina Faenza, last quarter of the 16th century Maiolica painted in two colors, light blue and yellow, on a thick, rich layer of white enamel. It measures 2.24 in (5.7 cm) in height, 6.10 in (15.5 cm) in diameter. lb 0.55 (kg 0.25) State of conservation: mimetic restoration. The small cup has a raised central “umbone”, a perforated brim and a shaped rim. It rests on a high jutting foot. The "crespina" shape, in some inventories is cited as "tacce de frute" (fruit cups). It was particularly appreciated in the Renaissance and has variants based on the formal types and the different sizes. The decoration, made according to the dictates of the “compendiario” style, used few standardized colors: blue and yellow on a thick white and shiny enamel, deliberately chosen as the colour which was most reminiscent of silver. This choice derived from a trend in creative design of the era: the shapes used in the molds were often taken from metal objects. An idea which would last throughout the Renaissance. The work shows, in the middle of the “umbone”, a winged putto stepping forward while playing a long thin trumpet. The depiction of the putto is fully representative of the repertoire of the Faenza workshops of the sixteenth century. Some specimens with this type of decoration have been published in a volume by Carmen Ravanelli Guidotti: there appears the whole productive repertoire of this fundamental moment of transition between the taste for the “istoriato” style and the great simplification of decoration in the “compendiario” period. This style, in its simplicity, however, saw its expression in a rather varied collection of decorative subjects, including old-fashioned busts...
