By Jose Palacios
Located in New York, NY
In this original acrylic paint on paper Jose Palacios depicts "Macrogarden 09", in a pop art style reminiscent of Henri Matisse. He uses vibrant green, red, blue and purple leaf like shapes to create his composition. Palacios' work is characterized by it's geometry, precision of his figures and the use of a refreshing and bold palette. Jose Palacios was born in Spain in 1970. Benton, Carrie Chapman Catt, monoprint with Chine collé, Pioneer Activist
By Suzanne Benton
Located in Darien, CT
Pioneer Activists is an ongoing series of artworks by Suzanne Benton. Consisting largely of monoprints with Chine collé where the artist references suffragists, feminists, writers and educators from the 19th century and beyond. These works embody the artist’s stellar theme of bringing past to present. Carrie Chapman Catt, monoprint with Chine collé, 18 ¾ "x 12 15/16", 1992 (1859 – 1947) The women’s right to vote in the United States is owed largely to the efforts of Carrie Chapman Catt. Born in Wisconsin and educated at Iowa State, Catt left work as a high school principle and later as a newspaper editor to join the fight for women’s suffrage. Skilled as a lecturer, Catt rose rapidly to national leadership, succeeding Susan B. Anthony as president of the National/American Women’s Suffrage Association in 1900. Catt’s pressure on President Woodrow Wilson and her tireless work to secure state ratification, culminated in the Nineteenth Amendment’s adoption in 1920. Following suffrage work, Catt devoted herself to peace and disarmament issues, serving as chair of the Committee on the Cause and Cure of War. The Women’s Rights Historical Park exhibited the growing series in 1995 during the 75th anniversary of women’s suffrage. The Oberlin College...

Rays of City Light, fine art photography on maple wood, yellow and orange NYC
By Hugo Garcia-Urrutia
Located in Dallas, TX
Part of the “Wooden Postcards” series by husband and wife team Hugo Garcia-Urrutia & MK Semos, "Rays of City Light" is shot using cross-processed medium format film and a Holga camera. The imagery is a vibrant New York City street scene, showing an iconic yellow taxi cab and abstract orange patterns and "rays of light" emulating from the buildings. The frames are manually juxtaposed inside the camera to create “rays” emulating from the urban chaos of taxi cabs and skyscrapers. Urrutia crafts the substrate from white oak flooring, with the natural wood grain becoming an essential element of the composition. The choice of white oak, with its natural grain visible through the film overlay, reinforces a sense of history and urban grit, allowing the wood itself to become an active part of the composition. HUGO GARCIA URRUTIA Hugo Garcia Urrutia is an interdisciplinary artist, interested in the cross-pollination between art and architecture. A graduate and active member of the Architectural Association in the United Kingdom, Urrutia’s work creates a distinct spatiality located at the interstice of art and architecture. His work explores and uses the technology for design and fabrication, with a sensitive and conscious reminder of the creativity of human endeavor. Urrutia graduated from the Architectural Association in 2013, earning a Master of Architecture in the Design & Make programme. In 2000, he graduated from Texas Tech University, with a Bachelor of Architecture and Design and received the 2000 Outstanding Thesis Award. In 2004, he founded Decorazon Gallery in Dallas’ historic Bishop Arts District where he directed, curated and exhibited numerous art/architectural exhibitions for national and international artists. His personal artwork has been exhibited in the United States, United Kingdom, Thailand, Colombia, and Hong Kong. His participation in art and architectural competitions and public projects include; the AIA Cincinnati, where he received the Design Award for the 2000 National Urban Poetry I competition and the 2005 ARQUINE - International Architecture Competition in Mexico City. His art installations – The Mexican Tsunami, and Making a Killing – have both been featured at the Art Santa Fe 2010 Contemporary Art Fair, curated by Charlotte Jackson, and University of Dallas and the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (MAC) in Dallas curated by Charissa N. Terranova. Together with the AA-DLAB 2012 team, Urrutia presented the Fallen Star at the Architectural Association Back Member’s Room. MK SEMOS MK Semos is a Greek-American artist whose work is deeply rooted in her passion for storytelling. Raised in Dallas, Texas, her artistic journey began at the Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts and later at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned degrees in photojournalism and photo illustration. It was in New York City during the vibrant 1990s that her artistic vision crystallized. Captivated by the city's energy, Semos photographed its dynamic urban landscapes and eclectic people, using her SL 66 Rolleiflex camera to capture movement and emotion. Even after three decades, she finds endless inspiration in the city’s pulse, describing it as an "endless source of inspiration." Semos’ work spans travel, portraiture, and environmental photography, with her mastery of the Holga camera earning her recognition in publications like New York Magazine, Business Traveler, and Timeout NY. Alongside her husband, Hugo Garcia Urrutia, she co-founded DeCorazon Gallery, showcasing global artists and exhibiting her own works in prestigious art fairs around the world. Semos also serves on the board of the Association of Women Art Dealers...

Linda Cunningham, 'Randall's Island Connector', Pastel, Found Objects, Canvas
By Linda Cunningham
Located in Darien, CT
canvas, collage, pastel, acrylic, photo transfers, 2016 Bifurcated sheets of canvas with torn edges suggest the beautiful open vistas now inaccessible to the residents of the Mott Haven and Port Morris areas of the South Bronx, abandoned and dominated by de-teriorating remains, rotting remnants of piers, New York State-owned power stations and City Waste transfer stations. The unusual materials and torn canvas edges convey with tactile sensibility the contradiction documented with photo-transferred images, layered with acrylic and pastel. Materials and image fuse revealing a broken South Bronx history, an urban renewal tragedy, an area once the retreat of choice for fresh air, heath and greenery. The shards of information and vistas evoke the former Port Morris harbor named after Governor Morris a signatory of the constitution. There barges once docked and youth once swam off a pier in the East River. Cunningham’s work centers upon time, transience and contradictions shown through images of the shifting urban present. Compelling environmental concerns juxtaposed against industry, ur-ban blight and the loss of the natural environment as well as her concern for her Bronx home area faced with gentrification drive her work. Linda Cunningham is a Bronx based artist with a long New York and international exhibition career. ODETTA, Bushwick, Brooklyn featured her work in a November two person exhibition and in the Harlem FLUX Art Fair, in 2015 and 2016. Her 2013 installation in No Longer Empty’s “This Side of Paradise,”at the Andrew Freedman House was installed at the Bronx Museum, 2014 in an exhibition sponsored by the Bronx Arts Alliance. The Bronx Museum displayed her sculptural installation ”Urban Regeneration” on its terrace, 2009/10. Exhibitions in Germany began with a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship in Berlin and her monumental public sculptural installations & alternative memorials are permanently sited in Cologne, Kassel, Bad Hersfeld and Cornberg, Germany, Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, New Jersey and City of Sculpture, Hamilton, Ohio. Alternative memorials were sited at the CUNY Graduate Center across from Bryant Park, 1989-1995, in Tribeca and at UN Plaza, New York 1997-1998. Recent temporary public sculpture installations were at Westchester Sq., Bronx. NY, 2014 and Marcus Garvey...

"RED, BLACK & BROWN", sculpture, clay, ceramic, abstract, tribal, pattern
By Harold Wortsman
Located in Toronto, Ontario
Red, Black & Brown, a ceramic sculpture of high-fired clay pigmented with oxides, is a work by New York artist Harold Wortsman. Red, Black & Brown was recently exhibited at "Harold Wortsman: Time and Space" at the Orange Art Foundation, February-March 2022, New York City. Note the blending of geometric and organic forms in this work – it is characteristic of his practice – warm, contemporary, uniquely crafted, yet speaks to ancient, primitive traditions of art-making that cross cultures and histories. Highly attuned to the art of Africa, the Middle East, India and Asia, his forms are organic abstracts with masculine and feminine attributes that resonate together as a pleasing enigma. They make sense immediately, yet never give up all their secrets. From Harold Wortsman – "With sculpture, my material of choice is high-fired clay. Pieces are first low-fired in an electric kiln. I do not use glazes. Instead, I use oxides applied to the bisqued (low-fired) clay. As with a tattoo, oxides permit the surface underneath to breathe. The work is then high-fired in a gas kiln with double reduction to cone 10. The final temperature is 2,300 degrees F. At a certain point, oxygen intake is reduced to the kiln. Because the fire has reached a critical mass, it needs oxygen and chemically takes it from the clay and the oxides. Like a jazz improvisation, each kiln load comes out slightly different." From Jonathan Goodman – "Wortsman has increasingly moved into his own – a place in which the relations between the abstractions of volume and the intimations of very old culture are merged in a way that is new." – Essay, "Harold Wortsman: Time and Space", Orange Art Foundation, February 2022, New York City. Harold Wortsman is a sculptor and printmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. He “creates forms that bring to mind archaic cult objects and exude a quiet concentrated strength.” (Argauer Zeitung, Switzerland). His work, an edgy mix of freedom and clarity, can be found in public and private collections in the US, including The Library of Congress, Yale University, The New York Public Library Print Collection, The New York Historical Society, Smith College, Indiana University’s Lilly Library, Brandeis University, The Newark Public Library Special Collections Division, and the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum Print Archive. Also in private and public collections in Europe, including the Municipal Collection of the City of Brugg, Switzerland.
