In one of them this diagnosis has metastasized to the brain and I am no longer able to care for my children. The bank takes over the house and I become an albatross in hands not fully formed. . . In the other world, noise shuts down for a very split second and the smallest fragment of light becomes a pathway to immortality. Color is no longer a placeholder and language no longer a tool. . . You can read this as small moments of clarity or large chunks of confusion. Either way, they mix with the noise and become gaps I long to posses.” — Joshua Lutz The images and text accompanying Joshua Lutz's series, "Mind the Gap...

Untitled (Figure and Wall Detail)
By Ralph Eugene Meatyard
Located in New York, NY
From a portfolio of ten gelatin silver prints from original Meatyard negatives (1959-71) Printed April 1974 Edition of 130 Credit stamp, verso 7 x 7.5 inches, image 15 x 12 inches, mount This photograph is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. An optician by trade, Ralph Eugene Meatyard was a self-described “dedicated amateur” photographer. He pursued his own vision to produce an exquisitely enigmatic, widely admired body of work. Meatyard began taking photographs in 1950, roaming the backwoods and towns in Kentucky, experimenting with framing, multiple exposures, and blurring to produce haunting, abstracted images of natural and manmade environments. In the late 1950s, he began incorporating monstrous, oversized latex masks...

Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Michael Crouser writes: ““I find that when I am in the dog runs, I am nearly invisible to my subjects. . . They play like little boys throwing one another down a hill on the school playground. They practice in their play what nature has said they must know. Dominance, defense, breeding and agility. And I am often nearly on top of the dogs in useful obscurity, making the first pictures of my life that actually make me laugh.”” Michael Crouser captures the thrilling intensity of dogs at play in his collection of photographs titled "Dog Run." Crouser catches both rare and provocative moments, —split seconds of intense play that give an intimate glimpse into the expressive personalities of his dynamic subjects. The photos were shot in neighborhood dog runs, where the dramatic action is all about dogs being dogs away from the influence of their masters. The photos spotlight...

Basquiat Keith Haring NY Graffiti Photo 1980 (SAMO)
By Fernando Natalici
Located in NEW YORK, NY
'The Door': Rare early Basquiat, Keith Haring Street Art Photo by Fernando Natalici: 'The Door,' photographed, New York c.1979/1980, represents one of only two known photographs featuring the early graffiti work of a young Jean-Michel Basquiat & Keith Haring together on one image (see upper right & left). Basquiat's tags appear in at least 3 places ('Salt', teepe & skull). The work combines the two most iconic Haring & Basquiat images of all: Haring's radiant baby & Basquiat’s crown; while also presenting the work of Whitney Biennial artist, David Wojnarowicz (Burning House mid upper left) & five time Brazilian Biennial artist Alex Vallauri (acrobat stencils across lower area). A true testament to the New York downtown art scene of the late 70's/early 80's. Archival Ink Jet Print. Dimensions: 18 x 22 inches including borders. Hand signed and numbered from an edition of 30. Excellent overall condition & print quality. Acquired directly from artist. Lot 180 Gallery is a primary authorized dealer rep of Fernando Natalici. About Fernando Natalici: New York based photographer Fernando Natalici is best known for his iconographic documentation of the downtown Manhattan art scene of the mid/late 70's and early 80's. Natalici’s portfolio includes sought after images of a young Patti Smith, Blondie, Talking Heads, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, The Ramones and more. As an Art Director, Fernando has played a key role in creating memorable visuals for historic NY venues such as CBGB's, The Mudd Club, Area and Danceteria. Fernando’s work was recently featured in the Jeffrey Deitch curated show “Area” at The Hole Gallery NYC, with his film stills from "Unmade Beds" & "The Foreigner"- two of the most significant underground films of the 1970’s New York Punk scene, recently exhibited at The Museum of The Moving Image.
