Dragon Fierce In Magical Metamorphosis 2021 watercolor painting - Chinese artist
Located in Rancho Santa Fe, CA
Huang Wei Born in 1985 in Baotou, Inner Mongolia; 2011,Graduated from The Department of Chinese Painting of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree; 2014,I graduated from Art College of Xizang University with a master's degree; Now he lives and works in Beijing T3 International Art District. After graduating from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Huang Wei chose to study in Xizang because he was unsatisfied with the procedural education mode. As an ideal and sacred place for many people, Tibet has also provided artistic inspiration for many artists. Huang Wei is not concerned with Tibetan folk customs or landscapes, but with Tibetan unique, faith-based artistic expression. The experience in Tibet was a rare retreat. He was willing to spend time in dialogue with nature as well as with his heart. Through painting, he established an inner field and objected to mountains, water and clouds with his mind. Huang Wei's brushwork does not move restlessly. The rich texture on the picture comes from the countless dots dyeing of the brush tip and rice paper. This technique, which originated from the Traditional Tibetan painting "Thangka", requires a state of extreme silence and numerous repetitions, approaching a state of meditation. This is the classical spirit from Tibet, and in keeping with the spiritual pursuits of the great achievers of the Himalayan region. As his mentor Li Jin...

Manayunk Schuylkill River Factory City Scene Philadelphia GIOVANNI MARTINO 1970
By Giovanni Martino
Located in Rancho Santa Fe, CA
Provenance: Private Collection, San Diego, CA. Framed Giovanni Martino, National Academy of Design* member, was born on May 1, 1908 in Philadelphia PA where all seven brothers and one sister, Filomina, Frank, Antonio, Albert, Ernest, Giovanni, Edmond, and William became painters. They were under the tutelage of their eldest brother, Frank, who in the late 1920s, founded the first commercial art* studio, Martino Studios, at 27 South 18th Street. Besides studying with his two eldest brothers, Giovanni also studied with Albert Jean Adolph at La France Institute, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts*, The Graphic Sketch Club, and Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia. In his mid teens he accompanied his two eldest brothers to New Hope searching for subjects to paint. In the 1930s, he also started to paint in Manayunk, a hilly mill town along the Schuylkill River. At this time he signed his paintings M. Giovanni. These colorful impressionistic* works proceeded more thinly painted dramatically poetic street scenes of the mill town. These images developed into impasto* laden oils in the 1960's with some of the paintings worked with a palette knife*. In Manayunk, he was a common sight on the streets and sidewalks, painting on-the-spot with his wife, Eva Marinelli and his two daughters, Nina & Babette. In the 1980's and 90's he also painted in Conshohocken and Norristown with his youngest daughter, Babette. His paintings became more sharply executed like his earlier work but were more colorful. In the late '90's he worked in his studio to enlarge paintings. He is the recipient of over 100 awards and honors. He received the Benjamin Altman Prize in Landscape Painting in 1975 at the National Academy of Design, NYC where he was elected an Academician (NA) in 1944. He mentored not only his wife and two daughters but also taught at Lehigh University and the Graphic Sketch Club, Philadelphia. He died at his home in Blue Bell on February 1, 1997. Realistic Cheetah Painting, "Love Bite"
Located in San Diego, CA
This is a one of a kind realistic animal oil painting on canvas. Its dimensions are 24'x36"x1.5. It comes unframed. A certificate of authenticity will follow delivery. This painting depicts two cheetahs and butterflies. The artist uses fine brushwork in this photorealistic style. Artist statement: I try to incorporate endangered species into my art pieces whenever possible. This particular image of a mother African Leopard and her cub I found to be very eye-catching. The dynamic criss-cross of their bodies created a perfect way to draw the eye in and let it wander amidst the spots and soft fur. I’m a color enthusiast and adding the magenta azaleas into the background created a beautiful mix of pinks and golden fur. I needed to add another species that was facing habitat loss and decreasing populations so I chose the Blue Morpho butterfly that is suffering from over-collection due to its rare beauty. The iridescent blue sheen of the wings complimented the blue green color of the leopard's eyes beautifully. - Kelley Sutphin
