In 1928, Hungarian-born Sidney Zoltan Lucas founded "Camilla Lucas Publishing" which encompassed a wholesale art publishing house and a retail art gallery. This business was both wholesale and retail and dealt in reproductions of antique, modern, and contemporary prints. It also sold original art including etchings, lithographs, and paintings. Starting in the 1930's and continuing into the 1950's, Sydney Lucas traveled to Europe periodically and contracted with French and Flemish artists to publish their work under the banner of the "Paris Etching Society."
During his career, Sydney published many thousands of images. He brought art into the homes of people at all levels of income through his etchings, serigraphs, woodblock prints, restrikes and reproductions. The various subjects included Redouté and Prevost Flowers, Barraband and Gould Birds, Piranesi, French Landscapes, Urban Scenes, Women, Children, Animals, Hunting and much more.
Later on in the 1950s, Sydney and his wife Phyllis Lucas became the first North American publishers of original signed, limited edition lithographs by the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dali. They worked directly with Mr. Dali over several years and the three created such fine images that in 1985 the Lucas’ Collection of limited edition lithographs from Salvador Dali’s paintings were displayed alongside his original paintings at the Salvador Dali Museum...

John George Brown was a British citizen and an American painter born in Durham, England. His parents apprenticed him to the career of glass worker at the age of fourteen, in an attempt to dissuade him from pursuing painting. He studied nights at the School of Design in Newcastle-on-Tyne while working as a glass cutter there between 1849 and 1852, and evenings at the Trustees Academy in Edinburgh while working at the Holyrood Glass Works between 1852 ad 1853. After moving to New York City in 1853, he studied with Thomas Seir Cummings at the National Academy of Design where he was elected a National Academician in 1861. Brown was the Academy’s vice-president from 1899 to 1904.
Around 1855, he worked for the owner of the Brooklyn Glass Company, and later he married the daughter of his employer. His father-in-law encouraged his artistic abilities, supporting him financially, letting Brown pursue painting full-time. In 1866, he became one of the charter members of the Water-Color Society, of which he was president from 1887 to 1904. Brown became famous for his depictions of street urchins found of the streets of New York (bootblacks, street musicians, posy sellers, newsboys, etc.).

This vintage poster from 1984, designed by doll historians Stéphanie Farago and Bob Dennison, features seven Lenci dolls in a setting related to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The image plays on mimicry: dolls imitating children, children dressed as adults, and adults observing them.
These iconic dolls, made of pressed felt by the Lenci company in the early 20th century, are dressed in adult sports attire: boxing gloves, jockeys, golfers' uniforms, riding jackets, and fencing gear. Their gaze is turned sideways, not toward each other or the viewer, but offstage. This sidelong glance, detached and unreadable, is the hallmark of Lenci's design and one of its earliest formal signatures.
Dressed for adult games, but motionless, they do not play—they pose, returning to their status as objects. The poster unsettles by staging this discrepancy between the theatricality of adult roles and the inert form of the doll. What should remain two-dimensional takes on unexpected volume, as if the viewer were reanimating a fragment of childhood.

Linda works in a printmaking style called viscosity monotype, although she is trained in the traditional form of Intaglio printmaking. Johnny Friedlaender was a leading 20th century artist, whose works have been exhibited in Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy, Japan and the United States. He has been influential upon other notable artists, who were students in his Paris gallery. His preferred medium of aquatint etching is a technically difficult artistic process, of which Friedlaender has been a pioneer.
Johnny Gotthard Friedlaender was born in Pless (Silesia) and his early studies were in Breslau under Otto Mueller. In 1936 Friedlaender journeyed to Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Austria, France and Belgium. At the Hague he held a successful exhibition of etchings and watercolours. He fled to Paris in 1937 as a political refugee of the Nazi regime with his young wife, who was an actress. In that year he held an exhibition of his etchings which included the works: L 'Equipe and Matieres et Formes. From 1939 to 1943 he was interned in a series of concentration camps, but survived against poor odds.
After freedom in 1944 Friedlaender began a series of twelve etchings entitled Images du Malheur with Sagile as his publisher. In the same year he received a commission to illustrate four books by Freres Tharaud of the French Academy. In 1945 he performed work for several newspapers including Cavalcade and Carrefour. In the year 1947, he produced the work Reves Cosmiques, and in that same year he became a member of the Salon de Mai, which position he held until 1969. In the year 1948 he began a friendship with the painter Nicolas de Stael and held his first exhibition in Copenhagen at Galerie Birch. The following year he showed for the first time in Galerie La Hune in Paris. After living in Paris for 13 years, Friedlaender became a French citizen in 1950.
Friedlaender expanded his geographic scope in 1951, and exhibited in Tokyo in a modern art show. In the same year he was a participant in the XI Trienale in Milan, Italy. By 1953 he had produced works for a one-man show at the Museum of Neuchâtel and exhibited at the Galerie Moers in Amsterdam, the II Camino Gallery in Rome, in São Paulo, Brazil and in Paris. He was a participant of the French Italian Art Conference in Turin, Italy that same year.
Friedlaender accepted an international art award in 1957, becoming the recipient of the Biennial Kakamura Prize in Tokyo. In 1959 he received a teaching post awarded by UNESCO at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro. By 1968, Friedlaender was travelling to Puerto Rico, New York and Washington, D.C. to hold exhibitions. That year he also purchased a home in the Burgundy region of France. 1971 was another year of diverse international travel including shows in Bern, Milan, Paris, Krefeld and again New York. In the latter city he exhibited paintings at the Far Gallery, a venue becoming well known for its patronage of important twentieth century artists.

This mixed media viscosity monotype displays all of the unique skill and painterly touch of the artist, who draws her inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds her on her home of Maui.
Linda works in a printmaking style called viscosity monotype, although she is trained in the traditional form of Intaglio printmaking. Her works are a story of color and mood, She continues to paint scenes around the island of Maui and further abstracts them in her studio using the printmaking process. Often, watercolor plein aire paintings are a prelude to her original monotypes. “It’s all a process, one medium leads to the next. We create from what we know or don’t know. My paintings are who I am.” Linda also has enjoyed painting the figure for many years.

Myers was born on April 16, 1936, in Racine, Wisconsin. She began her studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, but soon transferred to the University of Wisconsin–Madison where she earned a BS in 1962, and an MFA in 1965.
Myers employed a variety of printmaking techniques in her career including "relief, photo-etching, and mixed media processes."
Myers is best known for her prints depicting various buildings. During her lifetime, Moolah was lauded as a leading figure in women's professional wrestling and was considered one of the industry's greatest wrestlers. Moolah's first World Championship reign lasted over ten years. Moolah successfully defended the belt against the top female wrestlers in the world, such as Judy Grable and Donna Christanello, while also purporting to befriend some of the biggest celebrities of the day such as Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. She became the first woman to be inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1999, she became the oldest champion in the history of professional wrestling when she won the Women's Championship for a final time at age 76 in 1999.

Rare and bold Screen Print (Silk Screen) of Fisherman's Wharf 1957 by Gordon Cope (American, 1906-1999). Several boats are docked at Fisherman's Wharf, with buildings directly behind them. In the distance, the hills of San Francisco can be seen meeting a pale blue sky. Of particular note is the skillful representation of the reflections of the boats in the water, and the clever use of grey paper as negative space.

Gordon N. Cope (American, 1906-1999) was an educator and painter. Trained in Utah and France, he exhibited his landscape paintings and portraits in the United States and Europe, and he believed music was related to painting.
Cope was born on May 14, 1906, in Salt Lake City. He was trained by Utahn artists LeConte Stewart and Lawrence Squires, and at the Académie Julian in Paris, France in 1928. He also studied singing at the Opéra-Comique.
Cope taught art at Latter-day Saints University, and he served as the chair of its Department of Art in 1930–1931. He taught at the Mountain School of Art from 1932 to 1938, and he was the director of the Art Barn School in Salt Lake City in 1939–1941. Cope painted Utahn landscapes as well as a portrait of Henry H. Blood, who served as the seventh governor of Utah from 1933 to 1941. Cope exhibited his work in the United States and Europe. According to the Deseret News, Cope "felt that music and painting are closely interrelated, and that the study of one form may be used to complement the appreciation and understanding of the other."
Cope died on June 10, 1999, in San Francisco, California.
Gordon Nicholson Cope studied with well-known Utah artists A.B. Wright and LeConte Stewart, and became recognized as a major Utah artist of the Great Depression. Cope was born in Salt Lake City in 1906 and spent much of his life in Utah.
Cope gained much of his artistic training from diverse environments and influences. Following his training with the previously mentioned artists, Cope spent the next year, 1924, working with Lawrence Squires in Arizona. To expand his knowledge and training, Cope traveled to Europe, where he studied the "old masters" such as Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Patricia Pearce is a California artist who attended San Francisco State and UC Irvine and is the adjunct Professor of Fine Art at the College of San Mateo. Her early work on paper explored images of garments using various printmaking techniques. Later, she began to work mainly in collagraph and monotype prints creating singular images of kimonos and ribbons in her subtle shifting, subdued pieces are constructed in a three-step process. Avissar, Simon (Israeli, 1938-2020) is a Postwar & Contemporary painter born in Casablanca. As a tireless nomad, he exhibited for the first time in 1961, in Jaffa, where he lived and worked for some time. He then moved to Paris, settling into a studio in Montparnasse and began with an exhibition of his work at the Galerie Charpentier in 1964, and after exhibited at Abel Rambert, the Galerie de l’Elysée, and the Galerie Bénézit in the 14 years he lived there. He then moved to the United States, including Washington, New York, and Lose Angeles, while continuing to travel to South America, Australia, and South Africa, exhibiting in many places he visited.
