Block & Pearl Sculpted Contemporary White Candlestick Set by Margit Wittig
By Margit Wittig
Located in London, GB
UK customers please note: displayed prices do not include VAT.
Margit Wittig has used her sculptural skills to create beautifully-crafted, well-proportioned candlesticks, which are compositions of her unique signature pearl-shaped designs.
Each candlestick begins as hand-sculpted spheres and cuboids which are used to create moulds in different sizes. These highly original, eye-catching candlesticks come in low and tall sizes depending on the number of blocks.
The candlesticks are cast in bio-resin with 30% recycled content and Jesmonite mixed with pigment at the start of the process, to ensure colour consistency. Some of the candlesticks are subtly finished with hand painted gold patina to reflect the shimmer of the candle. Each one is made with a solid brass drip catcher and can be cast in a variety of colors.
Working from her studio in London, as well as candlesticks, Margit creates artistic...

Exceptional Pair of French Late Empire Gilt-bronze Candelabra Attributed to Pier
By Pierre-Philippe Thomire
Located in Benington, Herts
A pair of exceptionally elegant and important late Empire five-light figural candelabra ‘A la Victoire’ in gilt-bronze, attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire, after a design by Charles Percier. Imposing size at 81cm in height.
French Paris c.1820
Superbly cast, in the Neo-Classical style, the five scrolling foliate candle branches enclosing central sconces issuing from a circular wreath supported by the winged figure of Victory (Nike), wearing diaphanous robes gathered by a sash above a long underskirt splaying out from above her ankles, with beautifully feathered wings flowing behind her as she looks straight ahead. Each figure standing on one foot, the other bent, resting on a plain sphere over a reeded palmette-cast baluster pedestal raised on square plinth. Wonderful colour and patina, pierced for electricity, old inventory label to the underside.
We are delighted to have been able to acquire these important candelabra as rarely does one get the opportunity to purchase items by P P Thomire...

Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
A magnificent, fine and impressive rare pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver candlesticks modelled in the form of cobra snakes; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection
These magnificent and rare antique Victorian cast Scottish sterling silver candlesticks have been realistically modelled in the form of a slithering cobra.
Each cast silver snake model is surmounted with a circular baluster shaped capital, embellished with bands of leaf decoration; each hallmarked detachable capital secures with a screw fitment.
The cobra shaped columns of the candlesticks are ornamented with details reproducing the snake's scales and anatomical features.
These magnificent candlesticks are the finest examples of their type you could hope to acquire.
NOTE: These candlesticks bear the foreign manufatcure hallmark alongside the full Scottish marks; it can be determined that George Edward & Sons were the importers. These antique candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptionalcondition.
The cast decoration is all very sharp
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each tail and part hallmarks to each capital are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
