At Dentsu he met his wife Yoko, to whom he paid homage in Sentimental Journey, a photographic record of their honeymoon published in 1971. Usine Toyota n°1 (Valenciennes) – Stéphane Couturier, Toyota, Car Factory, Art
By Stéphane Couturier
Located in Zurich, CH
SStéphane COUTURIER (*1957, France) Usine Toyota n°1 (Valenciennes), 2005 C-Print with Diasec Face in Artist's Frame Sheet 182 x 240.5 cm (71 5/8 x 94 5/8 in.) Frame 189 x 247.5 cm (74 3/8 x 97 1/2 in.) Edition of 5; Ed. no. 2/5 Framed Born in 1957 in Neuilly sur Seine, Stéphane Couturier currently lives and works in Paris. In 1994, Stéphane Couturier showed his first works in a series called 'Urban Archaeology', viewing the city as a living organism with multiple aspects. He photographed it deliberately avoiding anything that suggested poetry, nostalgia or strangeness. From 1999 on, Stéphane Couturier was increasingly drawn to suburbs and began to focus on a different type of landscape: on the one hand, by tackling housing blocks and high-rises in his 'Monuments' series; on the other, by photographing mushrooming housing developments. These generic cities soon became his favorite subject. In 2002, the uniformity and repetitiveness of these landscapes around the world drove him to begin working on the concept of the polyptych: the combinations and interchangeability of each of the elements in a polyptych give rise to a play with 'Landscaping' (the title of a new series), with the spectator recomposing a landscape between reality and fiction. WStéphane Couturier series ‘Melting Point’ presents a Toyota assembly plant in Valenciennes (France). Emphasizing the cycles of construction and demolition endemic to modern industrialized life, the photographs possess dynamic vertical and horizontal lines, elegant curves, and brilliant effects of light and indigenous colour. Using a large-format camera, Couturier creates crisply detailed prints that expand the viewer’s awareness of how a photograph can look and how urban occurrences can be conceptualized. Each picture is printed from a sandwiching of two moments in time, creating highly abstract yet precisely detailed images. People, machines, car parts, wires and more all compete for the viewer’s attention—images of industry simultaneously out of control and in perfect harmony. – Art, Contemporary, Colour, Architecture, Photography, Geometry, Graphics, Structured, Pattern, Car Factory...

Violet Balloon Rabbit Iconic Sculpture by Jeff Koons, Porcelain, Contemporary
By Jeff Koons
Located in Zug, CH
In Koons’ hands even the most familiar, everyday items transcend commonality to become true icons manifesting the essence of American popular culture. Balloon Rabbit (Violet) - Jeff Koons, 21st Century, Contemporary, Porcelain, Sculpture, Decor, Limited Edition Limoges porcelain with chromatic metalized coating Edition of 999 Signed and numbered In mint condition, as acquired from the manufacturer In the original box designed by Jeff Koons, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity Inspired by a twisted rubber balloon rabbit, Balloon Rabbit (Violet), is a highly reflective red porcelain limited edition. Incorporating the vocabulary of his iconic Celebration sculptures, Balloon Rabbit, along with two other animals, Balloon Monkey and Balloon Swan, marked a spectacular new chapter in Jeff Koons’s oeuvre. “One of the things that I’m most proud of is making work that lets viewers not feel intimidated by art, but feel that they can emotionally participate in it through their senses and their intellect and be fully engaged”. — Jeff Koons The idea for a Balloon Rabbit sculpture came to Jeff Koons from his upbringing in south-central Pennsylvania. At special times of the year, people would decorate their front yard with reindeer at Christmas and inflatable rabbits at Easter. As his neighbors wished t give pleasure to other people with these decorations, the artist is proud to make art that is not intimidated for the viewers. JEFF KOONS Jeff Koons (born 1955) playfully tests the boundaries of commerce, celebrity, banality and pleasure, turning banal commercial or everyday objects into art icons by using seductive materials, a shift of scale and a contextual displacement. He rose to prominence in the mid-1980s as part of a generation of artists who explored the meaning of art in a media-saturated era. Koons turns banal commercial or everyday objects into art icons by using seductive materials, a shift of scale, and a contextual displacement. Jeff Koons’s “Balloon Dog” (featuring his enormous iconic chromium stainless steel dogs); his large-scale vinyl “Inflatables”; or the giant “Split-Rocker” all follow this principle. For instance, Jeff Koons in “Puppy” engaged the past and the present, referencing the eighteenth-century formal garden, while adding the most sugary of iconography. “It’s basically the medium that defines people’s perceptions of the world, of life itself, how to interact with others. The media defines reality.” —Jeff Koons Originally licensed as a commodities broker, Koons decided to become an artist in the late 1970s and moved from Wall Street into a factory-like studio in SoHo with hundreds of assistants. Since then, he has produced different iconic series, like the “Pre-New”, a series of domestic objects in strange new configurations, and “The Equilibrium” series, consisting of basketballs floating in distilled water tanks. The “Banality” series, which includes Jeff Koons´s “Michael Jackson and Bubbles” and “Woman in Tub”, among others, is characterized by oddly eroticized, comic, and kitsch images. However, it is indeed Koons’s “Made in Heaven” series that is his most provocative and controversial work, in which he examines the place of sexuality in visual culture. Koons is widely regarded as one of the most important, influential, and controversial contemporary artists. He constantly tests the boundaries between art and commerce...

A Perfect Mum #4 – Miles Aldridge, Woman, Fashion, Glamour, Soccer, Mum, Game

Miles ALDRIDGE (*1964, Great Britain) A Perfect Mum #4, 2012 Chromogenic print Image 101,6 x 127 cm (40 x 50 in.) Sheet 113.6 x 139 cm (44 3/4 x 54 3/4 in.) Edition of 6, plus 2 AP, Ed. no. 4/6 Print only A fiercely original photographer, Miles Aldridge (*1964, Great Britain) is best known for the technicolor dream-like worlds he creates and the glamorous, beautiful women who inhabit them. Aldridge creates ultra-cinematic images, drawing inspiration from film directors such as David Lynch and Federico Fellini as well as the psychedelic graphic design of his father, Alan Aldridge. Staged to perfection the stars of Aldridge’s surrealistic stories and technicolour dream-like worlds are glamorous, beautiful women. He captures his subjects in a state of dramatic contemplation, making them more complicated and intriguing than simply beautiful. The women’s immaculate appearance and blank expression leave room for interpretation and, like a mirror for Aldridge’s works at large, hint with a touch of dark humour at the perfected façade of fashion’s glamour and the need for idealised beauty. Moreover, his works are characterized by vivid, fluorescent colours as well as the Hollywood lighting and perfectionist attention to detail. His works are part of renowned museum collections, such as the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the International Center of Photography in New York. – Woman, Contemporary, Photography, Fashion, People, Posing, Model, Erotic, Glamour, Soccer, Mum, Kids...

Syoin KAJII (*1976, Japan) NAMI_060, 2004 Lambda Print with Diasec Face 56 x 84 cm (22 x 33 1/8 in.) Edition of 6; Ed. no. 1/6 About NAMI: NAMI is a series of photos of waves around the shores of Sado Island in Japan. The photographer, a young Buddhist monk named Syoin Kajii, watches the water patiently, waiting for a moment of surprise. The photographs are truly stunning. The artist captures the power and dynamism of the ocean and waves, a stark contrast to the tranquil seascapes by Sugimoto. By carefully gauging the speed of the wind and level of the wave, he waits for nature to create the image. These works are close ups, the artist is practically in the water. Syoin Kajil is the winner of the first Foil Award, for which the prize is the publication of NAMI. About Syoin Kajii: Born in Niigata, Japan, Kajii currently lives and works as a artist and Buddhist monk on Sado Island. Syion Kajii, graduated from Koyasan University in Mikkyo, in esoteric Buddhism, in 1999. He has been taking photographs since the age of 16, and after having served his Buddhist apprenticeship at Koyasan (Mt. Koya) from 1995 to 1999, Kajii travelled around the world, to places such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, and the U.K. taking pictures. While working as a monk of the Singon sect in Sado Island, he has been actively working as a photographer. In 2004 he was awarded the 1st FOIL Award for his series of pictures in which he took a succession of waves on a shore in Sado. Following the FOIL Award, he published his first photo book NAMI and was awarded the Rookie of the Year 2005 by The Photographic Society of Japan for this overwhelmingly energetic and spiritual book...

Usine Toyota n°5 (Valenciennes) – Stéphane Couturier, Toyota, Car Factory, Art
By Stéphane Couturier
Located in Zurich, CH
Stéphane COUTURIER (*1957, France) Usine Toyota n°9 (Valenciennes), 2005 Sheet 180 x 248.2 cm (70 7/8 x 97 3/4 in.) Frame 187 x 255.2 c (73 7/8 x 100 1/2 in.) Edition of 5; Ed. no. 4/5 Framed Born in 1957 in Neuilly sur Seine, Stéphane Couturier currently lives and works in Paris.

Moonlight 06 – Yoshinori Mizutani, Colour, Photography, Art, Sky, Forest, Gold

Yoshinori MIZUTANI (*1987, Japan) Moonlight 06, 2014 Archival pigment print on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta paper 84 x 63 cm (33 1/8 x 24 3/4 in.) Edition of 4, plus 2 AP, 4/4 (last available edition) print only Yoshinori Mizutani's (*1987, Japan) works suggest new expressive possibilities that mix the domestic traditions of personal and street photography with those of foreign conceptual photography. Mizutani graduated from the Tokyo College of Photography in 2012. He has won a number of prestigious awards including Japan Photo Award in 2013 as well as Foam Talent Call and Lens Culture Emerging Talents Top 50 in 2014. His series Tokyo Parrots was on view at this years Bienne Festival of Photography in Bienne/Switzerland. His foray into photography is fairly recent, he started 5 years ago. Nonetheless, his photographs do demonstrate an innate understanding of how forms, colours, textures and depth translate to the pictoral plane. He is working with a visual vocabulary that has been well established by the work of many photographers active today. Mizutani’s work serves as a good gauge of the visual tropes and photographic styles that are prevalent among young photographers in Tokyo. „The themes of my work are the everyday and the familiar. What is familiar to me, however, could be new to the viewer. It could also be revelatory or something previously overlooked. It is the viewers’ varied responses to and interpretations of images, which makes photography interesting." – Yoshinori Mizutani About Moonlight: Using strobe light...
