Mid-Century Vittorio Gentile White Carrara Marble Sculpture , Italy, 1960s
Located in Palermo, IT
"Nudo di donna" beautiful sculpture depicting a stylized woman's body, in white Carrara marble with pink shades. The artwork, characterized by curved volumes on a geometric support in grey marble. Manufacture of the Italian master Vittorio Gentile in 60s, signed lower side. VITTORIO GENTILE (1939 - 2022) Born in 1939, he was interested in the transformation of stone and form since he was a child. At 25 he established himself as a point of reference for a genre sculpture based on research, on morphoglobalism. He understood the sphere as an expansive figure and achieved important successes in Rome and the United States. It is the years of famous sculptures such as "Il Ratto", "Il Torso" that place him among the great contemporary interpreters. A success that will continue in the 80s and 90s and which will culminate in the great exhibition at the Vittoriano in 2003. Vittorio Gentile's forms have an organic genesis. They chase tensions and movements of bodies, abstractions, robust surfaces of shoulders, buttocks, torsos. The monument to Giovanni Falcone...

Eight 1960s Clear Glass Italian Empoli Duck Dog Fish Decanters Bottles and Vases
Located in Haarlem, NL
Very decorative rare clear glass set of eight different size Italian pressed glass bottles. This set is almost completely animal themed, a duck, a poodle, a dachshund and two fishes. But also a pressed Brutalist large cognac glass a petite blown glass carafe and a pressed so called 'corset' carafe. Mention Italian glass and probably everyone’s mind immediately leaps to Venice and Murano. But there is another almost equally famous centre of Italian glass making known as Empoli. Empoli glass is generally much simpler and does not have the intricately applied trim or decorations associated with Venetian and Murano pieces. The simple traditional styles of Empoli glass were quickly adapted to the abstract shapes of mid 20th century modernism. It became hugely popular as a decorative home accent, and was exported across the world. Now they are highly sought after by international collectors and look beautiful arranged together. All bottles have their stopper and are different in design, shape and size (height with stopper): Duck shaped genie bottle, 40cm high, 13cm wide, 12cm deep (15.7" x 5.1"x 4.7") Poodle bottle 38cm high, 14cm wide and 8cm deep Dachshund Wiener dog bottle 36cm high, 10cm wide, 9,5cm deep Fish decanter...

The Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory (German: Goldscheider'sche Porzellan-Manufactur und Majolica-Fabrik, (now) Goldscheider Keramik) is an Austrian ceramic manufactory. In 1885, Friedrich Goldscheider came from the small Bohemian city of Pilsen to Vienna and founded the Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory. It became one of the most influential ceramic manufactories of terracotta, faience and bronze objects in Austria with subsidiaries in Paris, Leipzig and Florence. For over half a century Goldscheider created masterpieces of historical revivalism, Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) and Art Deco. Famous artists such as Josef Lorenzl, Stefan Dakon, Ida Meisinger and the two perhaps best known Austrian ceramic artists Michael Powolny and Vally Wieselthier worked for Goldscheider. Several of the artists who worked for Goldscheider also worked for other Viennese studios, such as Augarten, Keramos or for the German brands Rosenthal and Meissen. The Goldscheider family emigrated in 1938 to United Kingdom and USA. Walter Goldscheider startet a new factory in Trenton, New Jersey and returned to Vienna in 1950. Marcel Goldscheider went to Stoke-on-Trent and produced figurative ceramics for Myott and opened his own studio in the 1950s in Hanley. Both brothers died in the early 1960s.
