An exceptional late 19th century secretaire bookcase by Edwards & Roberts, the upper section with a pierced fretwork swan neck pediment with Greek key moulding. The twin astragal glazed doors open to reveal an adjustable shelved interior, having reeded canted corners. Constructed using the finest figured mahogany with satinwood and boxwood line inlaid detail. The lower section having figured mahogany top, banded in satinwood above a secretaire drawer depicting a central classical urn within a floral swags, enclosing six Satinwood drawers, six pigeon holes and a gilt tooled leather inset writing surface. The twin panelled doors again constructed from figured mahogany with boxwood, satinwood inlaid panels depicting classical urns within a floral border. Also having reeded canted corners and enclosing an adjustable shelve interior, resting on solid mahogany bracket feet.

Artists Biography:
Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu. Edwards & Roberts was one of the principal London companies working in the taste of the late 18th century. They started business in 1845 and by 1854 were trading as "Edwards & Roberts, 21 Wardour Street, Antique and Modern Cabinet Makers and Importers of Ancient Furniture". The Ebb & Flow credenza was inspired by our observations of an ocean worn cliff face on the wild West Coast of New Zealand. Our search for design inspiration took us on an adventure to the Truman Track - a walk through unspoiled subtropical forest where ancient native trees tower above thickets of vine and palms. The track emerges on a spectacular coastline with cliffs, caverns, and a waterfall that plummets straight onto a rock-strewn beach.
The Ebb & Flow credenza is our representation of the powerful ocean forces that have shaped the natural landscape of New Zealand. The credenza is made from a matai tree (New Zealand native tree) rescued from a river on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, has been carbon dated at over 1500 years old. The trees location co-ordinates are inscribed on a stainless Tréology tag and attached to the credenza, connecting the owner to a unique piece of New Zealand nature.

Unique Photography Cabinet made for Lord Snowdon

Designed by Lord Snowdon in the 1960s and manufactured in 2011, this one-off cabinet has remarkable provenance.
The revered British photographer and filmmaker, who married Princess Margaret, the sister of Queen Elizabeth II, was also a talented designer and craftsman.
Having built a cabinet in the 1960s from steel threaded bar, a mahogany chest and old cupboard doors from the attics of Clarence House palace, Snowdon used this piece of furniture to store his photographic slides for the rest of his life.
Having spoken enthusiastically to fellow photographer Koto Bolofo in 2010 about the treasured piece he had made in his youth, Snowdon expressed a desire to reproduce the cabinet. Koto introduced Snowdon to Sophie Conran...

This is an antique, Edwardian mirror back sideboard dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910.
Adorned with finals and classical motif in the boxwood inlay featuring urns, garlands and swags lend this piece the Greco overtones favored at the turn of the century.
The rosewood displays beautifully with highly desirable grain detail in the counter top particularly; rich, warm tones glow in the sinuous graining beneath a highly polished finish.
Raised on turned front legs united with the side stiles by the lower tier, the cabinet offers a central cupboard with field panel doors inlaid with urn motif. Flanking the cupboard, concave shelving beneath a frieze decorated with inlaid swags around a central drawer dressed with brass pulls.
