Stylish Antique Eastern Style Wooden Wall Hanging Cabinet with Intricate Details
Located in Lisse, NL
Very rare and excellent condition, This all-handcrafted cabinet with a stunning decor of foliate carving and inlaid, Eastern style motifs is completely original and can be used for all kinds of purposes. It must have taken a highly skilled artisan several weeks to design and create this architecture inspired piece of wall furniture. It also comes with Arabic calligraphy on the drawer, but unfortunately we don't know the meaning of the word(s) or phrase. This unique, single door cabinet with its beautiful patina and its marvelous look and feel is as stable/strong as the day it was made and the pair of metal hooks on the back makes it very safe and easy to mount on your wall. If you are decorating a home or business with an Eastern interior then this late 1800s cabinet...

George II Mahogany Wine Waiter or Bottle Carrier
Located in Lymington, GB
An English mahogany wine waiter or bottle carrier / stand. Of superb color and patination. Mid-18th century, late George II period, circa 1750-1760. This rare, larger-than-usual Georgian example, retains its original lion mask gilt-brass mounts, and has survived with its original fretted angles. Rare to find in this excellent condition in view of the considerable use to which it would have put been during the last 260 years. These scarce open-topped Chippendale period wine waiters serve as bottle carriers raised on legs, with brass castors. They were designed to allow bottles to be circulated around a dining room for guests to help themselves. They had divisions, separated from their stands, and also had a central arched-shaped carrying handle. When not-in-use these wine waiters, or wine wagons...

Large 19 Century French Rococo or Neoclassical Revival Style Vitrine
By David Roentgen
Located in Dallas, TX
Stunning 19th century French Empire, neoclassical/Rococo Revival style Marquetry vitrine or display cabinet, of large proportions!! A real statement piece! Made of a fabulous variety of veneers, including kingwood, satinwood, tulipwood, harewood and walnut with quality classical ormolu mounts. It has ebonized pillars in the Empire style, with walnut and exotic hardwood friezes in the Rococo style. Double glass doors to middle section and single glass doors on either side. The glass on the doors are framed in ormolu banding. Floral Marquetry panels on front and parquetry on the sides. The front central section is a pullout / pull-out drawers with gorgeous walnut frieze panel and original carved walnut knobs. Scrolling pelmet on the top in 3 sections banded in ormolu beading. Scrolling base with cabriolet feet and ormolu mounts on base. Various ormolu mounts, floral mounts, mounts of Baachus and mounts of neoclassical female figures. In 3 sections. with 2 side cabinets and large central section with 3 section pelmet, stunning piece!!! The quality ormolu mounts are marked with the letter “R” and what appears to be “FR 678”. We were originally of the belief that this piece might have been made at the very end of the 19th century, but having regard to the quality of workmanship throughout this piece we are of the opinion that it was most likely made in the third quarter of the 19th century, circa 1870 and by an obviously top quality Parisienne maker with a surname beginning with “R”. It is definitely in the style of David Roentgen who was known for his Rococo/neoclassical styles. David Roentgen, (born Aug. 11, 1743-died Feb. 12, 1807, Wiesbaden, Duchy of Nassau), cabinetmaker to Queen Marie-Antoinette of France; under his direction the family workshop at Neuwied (near Cologne), founded by his father, Abraham Roentgen, became perhaps the most-successful firm of furniture production in the 18th century. After succeeding his father as head of the Neuwied workshop in 1772, Roentgen strove to broaden their clientele, an ambition that brought him first to Hamburg and ultimately to Paris (1774), where in 1779 he was spectacularly successful in selling his finest furniture to King Louis XVI of France for £3,300 to £4,000, an unprecedented sum for the time. Appointed cabinetmaker to the queen, Roentgen was granted admission (1780) as maître-ébéniste (master cabinetmaker) to the trade corporation of Paris cabinetmakers, making it possible for him to keep in Paris a stock of the furniture manufactured at Neuwied. Thus he was able to compete with such great cabinetmakers as Jean-Henri Riesener and Adam Weisweiler, reputedly his former pupil at Neuwied. After his first visit to St. Petersburg, Empress Catherine II the Great bought huge quantities of his furniture; King Frederick William II of Prussia was also his client. When in 1795 the French Revolutionary armies threatened to cross the Rhine, Roentgen evacuated his establishment and moved his stock farther inland. Unfortunately, he lost everything in his Parisian salon and in his Neuwied workshop, both of which were sacked by Republican troops. He was crushed, despite his appointment as court furnisher to the king of Prussia. Although he never succeeded in starting production again, former apprentices of his whom he helped to establish in the German cities of Berlin (David Hacker...

Crystal & Bronze Display Case Attr. to l'Escalier de Cristal, France, Circa 1880
By L'Escalier de Cristal
Located in PARIS, FR
Important display case attributed to l'Escalier de Cristal, made in engraved gilded bronze, with bent and beveled glazed panels and mirror background plaques. The top and the sides can be completely and widely opened. L’Escalier de Cristal, Parisian firm created circa 1800 by Mme veuve Desarnaud, famous under the French “Restoration” for its decorative objects combining crystal and bronze. She was awarded a gold medal at the 1819 Paris Exposition des Produits de l’Industrie for an outstanding gilt-bronze mounted crystal dressing table. Located in Paris, at the Palais-Royal, Galerie de Valois, L’Escalier de Cristal was bought out circa 1830 by Boin, and then by Lahoche in 1840. The company owed its rise to a position amongst the most important Paris decorative wares shops to Lahoche, who expanded considerably the business and entered later in partnership with his son-in-law to set up in 1852 Lahoche et...

George III Period Oval Mahogany Wine Cooler
Located in Lymington, GB
An oval mahogany wine cooler, George III period, circa 1790. With excellent, unrestored, deep, rich color and patination, and original solid-brass carrying handles to either side. This smart Georgian wine cooler (cellaret or cellarette) retains its original waxed surface and patina. It is brass-bound (of coopered construction) supported on its separate, original stand. Raised on square tapering legs terminating in its original brass cappings and castors. It can be also used as a small side table or lamp table. Comes with a bespoke, clear, safety glass cover. Nb. An antique oval wine cooler of this design is quite rare, and makes a very elegant addition to a dining room sideboard, or an occasional table in a drawing room. By removing the top, some examples of this form of wine cooler were often later converted to be used as jardinières. See Christies, 23rd May 2013, lot 23: a mahogany oval wine cooler sold @ £17,500. Literature: Ralph Edwards CBE FSA 'Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture', Hamlyn, London (Fourth Impression 1972) p. 640: “In late Georgian times the wine cooler was generally a plain mahogany tub hooped with brass and standing on four legs. Mary Kenyon in a letter to her mother (October 30th 1775) wrote that among the furniture in the parlour of her new house in Lincoln’s Inn Fields was a ''handsome cistern of mahogany with brass hoops etc. under the sideboard”. A typical example of a brass-bound wine cooler is shown in a picture by Zoffany, representing William Ferguson...

French gilded iron mirrored and brass bar cabinet vitrine 1920s
Located in Paris, IDF
A unique French Art deco vitrine bar cabinet produced in the 1920s. The wrought iron feet are glittering in an antiqued gold gilt finish, with beautiful details, while the mirrored vitrine cabinet part gives the piece a glam twist. Its sophisticated and clean design is typical of the French neoclassical work within the early Art deco movement from the 1920s and 1930s, and offers a timeless look. The interior, for stowing away glasses and bottles, features a glass holder rack and plenty enough space for 15 to 20 bottles. This cabinet would make a beautiful focal piece for a living room with plenty of French Art deco charm. It has been fully restored, and is found in a beautiful vintage condition, with an amazing patina. Two similar cabinets are actually displayed in the main hall of Le Meurice...
