Beverly Fishman "UNTITLED" Abstract Silkscreen Stainless Metal 2008
Located in Detroit, MI
"Untitled" by Beverly Fishman is a silkscreen on polished stainless metal filled with bright primary colors and repetitive designs and swirls. Fishman draws on a range of artistic and conceptual influences in crafting her unique canvases, from the industrial-inspired Minimalism of artists like Donald Judd or Frank Stella to techniques taken from the fields of science and medicine. The piece is signed and dated on verso by the artist along with the provenance via a label from the Bruno David Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri stating artist's name, title, date, size and medium and date of 2/2009 when it was in the possession of the gallery. Beverly Fishman’s neon-hued geometric works utilize both shaped canvases and eye-popping forms within the picture plane. Her subjects range from stars and boxes to depictions of human heads and skulls and crossbones and include cameos by pop culturalicons like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...

Pyre XII, stainless steel pieces and charred birch plywood created with fire
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Pyre XII 2017 stainless steel pieces and charred birch plywood 32" x 24" x 1.25" Pyre XII is part of a series of charred panels Watson completed in 2017 at the Arts, Letters and Numbers Residency in Averill Park, NY. The pieces incorporate local materials, rice, and fire to create charred photographic images on plywood that explore themes related to being, substance and imperceptibility. The imagery references the practice of cremation on a funerary pyre in which the corpse is prepared and burned over a construction of combustible materials. Within the work, rather than destroying the body, the fire produces an afterimage that remains indefinitely. Each day Watson would scavenge the site collecting natural objects, such as sticks, small rocks, and other detritus. He laid these objects on the surface of the plywood with raw rice. The surface was then charred using a propane torch. After the objects and rice were removed an image of them remained, like a photogram. In some panels, He incorporated a homemade black rice ink or various paints to tint the surface before and after burning. Rice is a recurring theme in Watson’s work. It alludes to an uncontained body in the process of decay, returning to the earth to become a source of sustenance for new life. It also imagines the soul extending beyond its fleshly container. The act of burning attempts to capture the space between life, death, and rebirth— freezing it in a state of transformation. The sticks, stones, and rice become remnants of life and markers of space and time. They are more than mere grains and detritus. They become the body as a trace of what was and a reflection of what will be. Michael Watson...

Free Delivery Worldwide,! Also included Artist's Lifetime Warranty The 'Sunlit' series is an exploration of the colour yellow and its healing effect to the ones who were impacted by grief. This is one of the artist, Shizico Yi's personal favourites for its subtle changing of the golden tones when viewing in different time of the day. The pictorial language in this series pays homage to Japanese Woodblock prints. In her latest series, titled 'Prayers,' Shizico employs various type of Dahlias as symbols of peace. Dahlias, which bloom in autumn, brighten up the garden amidst the early winter chill, symbolizing regeneration and hope for life. The name of the painting is a reference to a poem by Du Fu (712-770 AD), one of his poignant poems that portrays the landscape in his hometown. After nature reclaims the places where people once lived. Through these paintings in Prayer series, Shizico aims to convey her heartfelt prayers in times like these. It's also a form of self-reflection on the role of the artist in society. *Free Delivery Worldwide, guarantee shipping by Royal Mail with End to End International Tracking. Replicate Study (series)
By David Jang
Located in Los Angeles, CA
David Jang was born in Seoul, Korea in 1975 and received his BFA from the College of Visual Arts, St. Paul, Minnesota, where he studied sculpture and painting. He strives to transform the detritus of urban life into minimalist paintings of formal elegance, both gritty and sublime. He hopes to inspire others to discover art as a necessity to the human condition, not a luxury. David Jang’s work utilizes materials and object-making to articulate the countervailing forces inherent in the everyday—expansion and contraction, perfection and imperfection, force and balance, have and have not. Jang’s process can be described as an exacting, fanciful, even obsessive re-appropriation of common materials—one in which he deconstructs, re-programs and re-constitutes industrial and commercial cast-offs to reveal new relationships between the object and the viewer. Most people know the media he uses in their ubiquitous forms—as a potato chip bag, a remote control, plastic jar, Styrofoam cup, coiled wire, light bulbs, et cetera—but coded also into each of these objects (and the materials from which they are composed) are its life’s instructions. David Jang describes his process: “As I examine the continuum of the objects, I begin to discover the hidden subtexts and hierarchies these objects uphold—the social orders they sustain or subvert and the relationships they facilitate or fail. I attempt to foster a self-revelatory creative process, one that is empirical yet open-ended. In this way my work results, not in forced conversation, but in quasi-scientific discovery.” This artwork is ready to hang, and it does not require framing. A certificate of authenticity and hanging hardware is included.
