Henry Miller was born December 26, 1891 in New York, New York. In 1920 Miller began working for Western Union Telegraph service where his interest in writing began. He soon left for Europe in 1928 where he resided in Paris in 1930. He continued full time with his long and lucrative career as a writer of more than 36 creative and analytical works. Miller's entrance into the writer's circle began with Tropic of Cancer, which still proves to be Miller's most famous work. Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn chronicle Miller's lives and loves as an expatriate in Paris. They were both originally published in France by Jack Kahane at Obelisk Press in the mid-thirties. Soon after the publishing of Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, Miller's other works to date were published in the United States. Feininger was born in Paris, France, the eldest son of Julia Berg, a German Jew, and the American painter and art educator Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956). His paternal grandparents were the German violinist Karl Feininger (1844–1922) and the American singer Elizabeth Feininger, (née Lutz), who was also of German descent. His younger brother was the painter and photographer T. Lux Feininger (1910–2011)
In 1908 the Feininger family moved to Berlin, and in 1919 to Weimar, where Lyonel Feininger took up the post of Master of the Printing Workshop at the newly formed Bauhaus art school.[2]
Andreas left school at 16, in 1922, to study at the Bauhaus; he graduated as a cabinetmaker in April 1925. Afterwards he studied architecture, initially at the Staatliche Bauschule Weimar (State Architectural College, Weimar) and later at the Staatliche Bauschule Zerbst. (Zerbst is a city in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, about 20 km from Dessau, where the Bauhaus moved to in 1926.) The Feininger family moved to Dessau with the Bauhaus. In addition to continuing his architectural studies in Zerbst, Andreas developed an interest in photography and was given guidance by neighbour and Bauhaus teacher László Moholy-Nagy.
In 1936, he gave up architecture and moved to Sweden, where he focused on photography. In advance of World War II, in 1939, Feininger immigrated to the U.S. where he established himself as a freelance photographer. In 1943 he joined the staff of Life magazine, an association that lasted until 1962.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Italian photographer Fabrizio La Torre, Brussels Art Edition has chosen to publish 12 thematic “Celebration Boxes”, each of 6 photos, and each box published in only 100 copies at an exceptional price.
The chosen themes are: Rome, the Vatican, New York, Canada, Bangkok, Thailand, Hong Kong, women, children, transport, commerce and traders, and maritime navigation. Made between 1955 and 1966, these photos were digitized during the artist's lifetime and the technical parameters (framing, contrast, light, etc.) were approved by him. These are high quality fine art prints in A4 format (21 x 29.7 cm), on Baryté 310 gr Fine Art paper with museum quality pigment inks. Each box contains a numbered certificate of origin.
The very attractive price makes these boxes the ideal gift to offer to all lovers of vintage photos, but also an original set to decorate a room or an office, or only to indulge yourself and feed your collection. The production of these sets will be spread over four months until May 2021, (three themes per month) and they will be sold while stocks last. No reprints will be made.
All these photos are dated 1956-61, because the photographer had his films developed in his usual laboratory in Rome when he returned there on vacation.
The exact date of the shots is therefore unknown.

Note: The Central Park Casino, originally the Ladies' Refreshment Salon, was a restaurant in Central Park, near East 72nd Street in Manhattan, New York City. The name of the building came from the Italian for "little house," but the Casino itself was never a gambling business.
Originally, Calvert Vaux designed the building in 1862 as part of the Greensward Plan for Central Park.
The original plan was a wooden chalet-style structure with a broad hip roof. Before construction began, however, Vaux decided that a more permanent building was needed. The following year, with the assistance of Edward C. Miller and Jacob Wrey Mould, the Casino was redesigned as a Gothic Revival stone structure.
The building opened in early 1864 as a restaurant planned for unaccompanied female visitors to Central Park and was one of Central Park's three original restaurants. Soon, it was patronized by both men and women. The building that housed the Casino belonged to the City of New York, and the City often leased the Casino to independent operators. In the early 1920s, the Casino was rundown and renovated during the winter of 1921–1922.
Jimmy Walker, mayor of New York City during the late 1920s, frequented the Casino and reportedly spent more time there than in New York City Hall. Besides entertaining elite guests in the restaurant, Walker had an office in the Casino and conducted city administration there while meeting with political cronies.
In 1929, Walker terminated the lease of C.F. Zittel and allowed a friend, Sidney Solomon, to transform the Casino into one of New York's most expensive nightclubs. In February 1929, they released the new project. Solomon changed the Casino's interior using a design from Viennese designer Joseph Urban, though he kept the exterior mostly the same. The renovated Casino reopened on June 4, 1929.
When the Great Depression hit four months after the Casino reopened, the nightclub faced increasing criticism for operating on city land while maintaining prices only the wealthiest New York residents could afford. In 1930, as part of the enforcement of Prohibition, the United States government raided the Casino and seized alcoholic beverages. Walker's successor, Fiorello H. La Guardia, and his parks commissioner Robert Moses, who held a vendetta against Walker, wanted to tear down the Casino to build a playground on the site.
