Simakov Kirill – Russian photographer. Born on August 15, 1984 in Moscow.
Taking a great interest in photography, Kirill began working at the S.Bermeniev’s National Portrait Gallery in Moscow. He was organizing and conducting photo sessions of world celebrities and outstanding figures of art and politics, curated exhibitions, and belonged to the editorial group on creating books, catalogs in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Milan, Vicenza, New York, etc.
In 2012 he received a certificate of completion of the course “Marketing for photographers” and in 2018 completed “Portrait Photography” course at the New York Institute of Photography.
In 2013, Kirill founded his own Collection of author’s photos for interior decoration of homes and office space.
In 2016 he opened a working studio in Moscow.
In 2017 – 2018 there were Kirill’s solo exhibitions:
– “Borislav Strulev and Friends”, Conservatory, Belgorod (30 portraits);
– “New York or Nowhere”, FLACON Design Factory (40 photos);

Artist Biography -
Krantz occupies a unique place in the history of contemporary art for his imagery blending western landscape photography with the figure of the cowboy as depicted and romanticized in American popular culture. The technical underpinning of his work was established when he studied with Ansel Adams and Paul Caponigro, but perhaps more importantly, Krantz’s work reflects a dictum that he learned from Adams: “Technical proficiency leads to artistic freedom.” His range and versatility are his forte, working with ease in demanding and ever-changing conditions.
If Krantz’s work looks familiar, it is not surprising. Krantz, had been documenting the cinematic vistas of the American West for 20 years on commercial assignments and these much published images caught the eye of appropriation artist, Richard Prince, known for re-photographing advertisements and presenting the resulting images in a new “conceptual” context. Prince’s most famous series is his large scale reproductions of the cowboy images...

Krantz occupies a unique place in the history of contemporary art for his imagery blending western landscape photography with the figure of the cowboy as depicted and romanticized in American popular culture. The technical underpinning of his work was established when he studied with Ansel Adams and Paul Caponigro, but perhaps more importantly, Krantz’s work reflects a dictum that he learned from Adams: “Technical proficiency leads to artistic freedom.” His range and versatility are his forte, working with ease in demanding and ever-changing conditions.
If Krantz’s work looks familiar, it is not surprising. Krantz, had been documenting the cinematic vistas of the American West for 20 years on commercial assignments and these much published images caught the eye of appropriation artist, Richard Prince, known for re-photographing advertisements and presenting the resulting images in a new “conceptual” context. Quentin Shih (Xiaofan Shi )时晓凡 born in Tianjin, China in 1975, lives and works as both a camera artist (still photo) and filmmaker between New York and Beijing. This is from a series titled La Habana (Havana, Cuba) "In the year 2012, I photographed some young people in Havana, placing them in the streets at night or in studios with colored backdrops. We were both inquisitive of the other, wondering what exactly we were doing together. Were they acting in front of my camera? Or was I directing them to achieve the image that I wanted? A camera can serve a documentary purpose but it can also embellish and create. I called this series La Habana in Waiting. It was about a kind of result - a result that all my subjects and I were waiting for - a result which is achieved through a camera lens and is called ‘photography’."
A self-taught photographer, he began to shoot photos in college for local underground musicians and artists. After graduation, he came to Beijing to develop his career as a professional photographer/artist. From 2000 to 2002, he participated in exhibitions in China and America with his fine art photographic works and his works have been collected by American museums, such as the Danforth Museum of Art and the Worcester Art Museum.
During the last few years, he has been producing work for top commercial clients and international publications such as Adidas, Microsoft, Sony, Siemens, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Esquire. His advertising campaigns work have won numerous prestigious international advertising and photograph awards.
In 2007, Quentin was named 'Photographer of the Year' by Esquire Magazine (China). In the following years, he joined lots group exhibitions and solo exhibitions in China, Europe, Southeast Asia and United States.
As one of the leading Chinese photographers, Quentin Shih is well recognized for his individual artistic style which utilizes vast sets and dramatic lighting to engage in emotional narratives. Now, he is returning to his roots in fine art photography and challenging its techniques and concepts into his commercial and fashion photography in order to achieve a unique symbiosis.
At the same time, he is also working on his film projects, A Parisian Movie (2011) was his first short movie shot in Paris, France.

Quentin Shih has won many prestigious awards. He won the "Photographer of the Year" in 2007 by the Esquire Chinese Magazine and was awarded with the prize Hasselblad Masters Awards in 2009. His work continues to be shown in many countries such as China, the U.S., Singapore, France, Korea.
