JIANG TIE-FENG (1938- ) Chinese Artist Jiang Tiefeng's colors are of unsurpassed richness. Jiang's use of imagery in his paintings are steeped in Buddhist and Chinese mythology. Each figure has a symbolic meaning, and his works have so much complexity and visual fascination that the viewer is constantly seeing something new. Jiang's deep love of the colorful earth and for Xishuangbanna, a region of the Yunnan Province, has encouraged him to explore and create mysterious and unique subjects to paint. Courtesy of Susan Inglett Galery ABOUT CECIL TAYLOR Cecil Taylor (b. 1929) is a towering, sometimes divisive figure within twentieth-century music. In the early 1960s, with fellow maverick artists Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler and others, he revolutionized jazz by extending bebop into a radical terrain dubbed the "New Thing" or "free jazz"—the latter a term with political as well as aesthetic connotations given the social changes underway at the time in America. For Taylor, freedom meant a deep synthesis of the modern composers such as Béla Bartók and Igor Stravinsky that he encountered during his studies at the New England Conservatory of Music with the nuanced and original piano innovations of Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, Bud Powell...

Located in Soquel, CA
Passages - A Suite of 16 Prints by Patricia Pearce and other artists A set of lithographs by College of San Mateo class of 1992, instructed by Patricia A. Pearce (American, b 1948). Each print is on laid paper, meaning they all have ragged edges. Presented in a black folio with title sheet, table of contents, and ties. Includes protective tissue paper dividers between each piece. Each piece is numbered, titled, and signed by the artist. Patricia Pearce is a California artist who attended San Francisco State and UC Irvine and is the adjunct Professor of Fine Art at the College of San Mateo. Her early work on paper explored images of garments using various printmaking techniques. Later, she began to work mainly in collagraph and monotype prints creating singular images of kimonos and ribbons in her subtle shifting, subdued pieces are constructed in a three-step process. Awards include Grade Prize, 3rd Biennial Exhibition of Prints, Wakayama Japan; Grant, Peninsula Community Foundation. "Travelers", Abstract Drypoint Etching and Aquatint, Numbered and Signed
Located in Detroit, MI
"Travelers" is a work that displays Richard Jacobs early Balinese influence. This abstract work made with drypoint etching manifests a layer of depth and contrast that is achieved through an Indonesian technique of drawing the lines of the resist or printing it with a copper stamp that allows an artisan to selectively color the work through the soaking process. "Travelers" is exemplary of this earlier aquatint process before Jacobs would go on to apply a diversity of colors to his work. The print is 39 x 29 inches and is signed and numbered from an edition of 30 by the artist. Numbered edition may not necessarily be number 16 as there are multiple prints in the possession of Collected Detroit...

"Yellow Pepper", Still-Life Aquatint Etching Lithograph, Signed & Numbered
Located in Detroit, MI
"Yellow Pepper" is a work that displays Aaron Fink's experiments in still-life expressionism with its more than life-like depiction of a bell pepper in vibrant color. This print made with aquatint etching marries the expressionist style with the classic realistic depiction of food that we often take for granted. The print is 36.63 x 29.63 inches and is signed and numbered from an edition of 30 by the artist. Numbered edition may not necessarily be number 6 as there are multiple prints in the possession of Collected Detroit. This is a separate lithograph from "Red Pepper" which can be purchased separately but is including in the photographs for contrast as a set.
