
“The overall goal was to create an authentic Sag Harbor house, but with a fresh interior that felt collected of a long period of time,” says Steven Gambrel, who happens to have a home of his own not far from this newly constructed resident in the Long Island, New York, village.
Patterned walls and exceptional detailing distinguish the envelope, while a 1940s Italian parchment-covered bed — a rare find — sets the tone for the objects inside. Gambrel has expanded the palette of materials, adding wood, bronze, stone and ceramic to that delicious parchment, but he never loses sigh of the final equation: a serene bedroom for a lucky guest.
