Swedish Modern: #ShoppingWith Elin Kling of The Wall

As thousands upon thousands of Google Image search results will attest, Elin Kling sure knows how to dress. The Swedish style star has a distinctive, pared-down aesthetic that hinges on a refined palette of neutral hues and a near-surgical attentiveness to details of fabrication and silhouette. Emily Weiss of Into The Gloss summed it up nicely when she described Kling as a “master picker of pieces.” We couldn’t agree more.

It was in this same spirit that we asked Kling to shop 1stdibs, and share her favorite fashion, furniture, and fine art picks from the site. The result? A clean, well-edited mix of pieces from Gio Ponti, Poul Kjaerholm and Issey Miyake that very much invokes Kling’s own personal style. To wit, we pulled a few of our favorite looks from Kling’s archives, and matched them up with their visual equivalents from her 1stdibs edit.

This time of the year it’s hard not to feel inspired by summer looks—specifically Elin wrapped in a cozy towel from her clothing line, Totême. A Givenchy hat and Slim Aarons photograph have beach appeal, while a wire chair by Charles and Ray Eames and a geometric sculpture by Molly Larkey echo the towel's graphic sensibility. Pictured in one of her favorite knit tops, Elin’s look is at once elegant and effortless. A vintage YSL fur coat (once owned by Elton John) and a pair of stunning Cartier earrings stand out for their glamorous appeal while sleek furniture pieces — including a rare Paul McCobb brass floor lamp and Poul Kjærholm dining table — complete this understated, yet sophisticated, mix. This post wouldn’t be complete without an edgy evening look from the Swedish style star. Looking chic in all-white, Elin sports a red lip that adds the perfect pop of color. An Alaia dress lends a nighttime vibe while a lithograph by Salvador Dali and red leather Louis Vuitton wallet add color to an otherwise muted mix. Go shopping with Elin Kling.
