All Majestic/Luxcraft lamps are rare, but this is a bit rarer than the already rare ones. This one doesn't use fiberglass, but perforated metal for the lamp shades! This is also a nice small size that doesn't require a whole table or credenza to position. Both these elements are unusual for Majestic and make this a real treasure! This lamp can be used on a night table or a small corner table. It fits in many places where other Majestic lamps wont. Rare and Striking! Art Deco Metal & Brass Articulating Desk Lamp With Faux Leather Enamel Circa 1939 At the time of the New York World's Fair of 1939, designers architects and engineers were all inspired to bring about and summon "The Future!" This extremely rare lamp is a great example of the designs, ideas and aesthetic of this momentous period! Here an articulating brass banded drum shade swivels on a great expansive brass arch! Arches added a sense of drama and importance to an object and were used very successfully in this time period to bring both formality and dynamism to furnishings! This drum shade beams light where desired and it is covered with an enamel pattern designed to look like leather. This element is very rare and is one of the first industrial age examples of decorating metals and plastics with "natural" patterns. This would become fairly common place decades later as the "wood" trim on cars was decorative plastic and before that, contact paper was introduced to a design conscious public. At this time, several extremely high end desk lamp designs featured leather wrappings, particularly those coming out of Europe, who were still employing more handmade furnishings. So this design feature was not just a random whim, but an effort to convey "old world" imagery to a very industrialized product. Now, almost 85 years later, as most leather wrapped lamps...

L O T U S A R T - N O U V E A U S C U L P T U R A L - L A M P A r t - N o u v e a u - S p l e n d o r ! 1 9 2 0 - 3 0 DIMENSIONS: 28" TALL x 16" WIDE This marvelous lotus themed lamp with sculptured metal flowers and leaves in a metal container with a wood base. These are illuminated by a single socket on an adjustable "stem" permitting an inch or two adjustment of the magnificent glass shade which continues the floral theme! The camed glass shade is green hued when unlit, matching the metal sculptured lotus plant, but transforms to a lovely golden hue when lit, casting a carefully crafted "sunlight" upon the metal blossoms! Absolutely marvelous in conception and execution! This lamp is in fine vintage condition with incredible patina to the alloy. The metal was tailored in composition to create a more green-hued, brass alloy, fitting for the lotus leaves! Newer glass shade. Rewire done in the fifties, including cord with inline switch and socket. This is an incredibly beautiful and rare treasure from a graceful era of thoughtful elegance! A superb addition to your NY penthouse, Cupertino estate or West Palm Beach mansion!

DIMENSIONS: 37" x 18" This lamp is the epitome of clean Danish minimalism as exhibited in the mid century period! A rare Richard Barr design that features molded teak over metal! Designers utilized new fabrication techniques perfected in the postwar period to create wonderful sculptured shapes that look sensational!
