In this dynamic composition, expressive, gestural lines and swaths of colour—yellow, green, turquoise, white, melon and brown flow across the canvas. Tosczak is perhaps best known for his beautiful bronze figurative sculptures. This painting was inspired by a poem entitled ‘L’invitation au voyage” written by C. Baudelaire, a famous French poet.

Angela Letizia Renzi, the Italian artist who worked with Tosczak is a ‘lover of literature and linguistics.’ This acrylic painting was inspired by an Italian myth—the story of a young man who saved the island of Sicily from sinking by diving underwater and shouldering the columns that hold up the island. Renzi and Tosczak paint these canvases together and at the same time. Their artistic interaction is important to the works they create.

Fluid lines of colour appear to dance across the canvas in this colourful abstract painting –a collaboration between Canadian visual artist Richard Tosczak and an Italian artist, Angela Letizia Renzi. Inspired by an Italian sculpture of a mythological creature—the Satyr (a figure caught between human and animal worlds) found by a fisherman in 1998, this expressive piece is rendered in yellow, orange, green, pink, orange and white.

Washes of colour in blues, orange, and green are expressed in gestural brush strokes in this abstract painting by visual artist Richard Tosczak. Working in collaboration with an Italian artist who is a ‘lover of literature and linguistics’, Angela Letizia Renzi, the two artists have created a series of works that draw inspiration from beloved Italian myths.
This colourful acrylic represents the legend of a beautiful nymph named Arethusa who was threatened by the river god, Alpheus and rescued by Apollo’s twin sister, the goddess Artemis who creates a cloud to hide her. Renzi and Tosczak paint these canvases together and at the same time. Their artistic interaction is important to the works they create.
