Antique Khmer Bird Shaped Lime Pot

About the Item

Khmer Lime Pot. A small squat globular stoneware jarlet in the form of a bird covered in a brown glaze stopping short of the elevated foot displaying the sandy beige biscuit, an owl’s beak and protruding eyes in relief on the shoulder and a pinched relief suggestion of tail feathers on the opposing side, incised concentric rings around the mouth and vertical lines on the body. Condition: Tail feathers and base chipped, glaze flakes, otherwise good condition. 1.75 inches high x 2.375 inches in diameter (4.5 x 6cm). 2.2 oz. (64g). 12th Century.
