About the Item

French Art Nouveau Emile Gallé good sized bowl-vase depicting flowering pansy like flowers in blues and purple over yellow with a turned in top. It has fine internal polishing to highlight the blue and purples in the flowers, (this is sometimes called window pane technique one of the more complex techniques Galle employed -requiring the inside layer to be rubbed away with acid -see image 7 -it’s rare to find this technique). This is one of the most classic Vase shapes but usually found very large or vary small -its unusual to find an example in this size. Signed (Provost Mark IV c1920 see last picture for dating chart). The flowers are beautifully depicted making the vase a stunning example of the period. Emile Gallé was probably the greatest glass maker of all time and one of the founding members of the Ecole de Nancy.
