French Art Nouveau Signed Blue Anemone Emile Gallé Cameo Glass Vase circa, 1920
About the Item
French Art Nouveau Emile Gallé footed cameo vase depicting Flowering Anemone in purple and blue over orange/yellow, with fine internal polishing to highlight the blue in the flowers -A striking and unusual shape-where the internal polishing has not been done the petals would appear green, (this is sometimes called window pane technique one of the more complex techniques Galle employed -requiring the inside layer to be rubbed away with acid -it’s rare to find this technique used especially on such a narrow necked vase -(as access would be seriously limited) Emile Gallé was probably the greatest glass maker of all time and one of the founding father's of the Art Nouveau movement.
