Early 20 Century French Porcelain Dinnerware, About 208 Pieces Signed H. Loux

About the Item

Decorate a dining table or shelving with this antique porcelain service set of approximatrly 208 pieces. Crafted in France circa 1930 by Obernai Faïenceries Sarreguemines and signed by renowned artist H. Loux, each plate and dish features delicate foliate and floral motifs, stamped on the underside with "Obernai Faïenceries Sarreguemines, France." This extensive set combines two nearly very similar dining collections, both from the same manufacturer and artist, providing a cohesive and visually stunning display. Perfect for both everyday dining and special occasions, the set captures the charm of Breton life with intricate scenes of people, churches, towns, and countryside, many of which are signed by French painter Henri Loux. The pastel color palette and finely detailed artwork make each piece a work of art. The colorful set has 60 dinner plates, 12 salad plates, 17 soup bowls, 37 tea sauces, 16 dessert plates, 1 condiment server with five individual slots, 31 tea cups, 1 drink pitcher, 2 creamers, 2 coffee or tea pots, 2 sugar bowls, 4 serving bowls, 3 soup tureens with lids, 2 gravy boats with built in saucer, 9 serving plates, 1 cheese tray, 1 cheese server, 6 saucer plates, and 1 hot pad adding to a total of 208 pieces. The dinner ware set is in good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns wonderful colors in a pastel color palette. some dishes have slight chips and hair line crackling. Henri Loux (1873–1907) was a French illustrator and painter best known for his depictions of traditional Alsatian life. His work captured rural scenes, landscapes, and the daily customs of Alsace, reflecting the region's culture and heritage. Loux's illustrations gained widespread recognition when they were used by the Sarreguemines pottery factory in the "Obernai" series, a popular line of faience tableware. Loux’s work remains a symbol of regional pride in Alsace. Obernai Faïenceries Sarreguemines is a renowned French pottery line produced by the Sarreguemines factory, famous for its fine faience, a type of glazed earthenware. Established in the 19th century in the town of Sarreguemines, the factory became well-known for its artistic collaborations, including with Alsatian artist Henri Loux, whose illustrations were featured in the popular "Obernai" series. The Obernai collection typically showcases charming rural and pastoral scenes of Alsace, capturing the region's culture and lifestyle.
