Henri Loux (1873–1907) was a French illustrator and painter best known for his depictions of traditional Alsatian life. His work captured rural scenes, landscapes, and the daily customs of Alsace, reflecting the region's culture and heritage. Loux's illustrations gained widespread recognition when they were used by the Sarreguemines pottery factory in the "Obernai" series, a popular line of faience tableware. Loux’s work remains a symbol of regional pride in Alsace.
Obernai Faïenceries Sarreguemines is a renowned French pottery line produced by the Sarreguemines factory, famous for its fine faience, a type of glazed earthenware. Established in the 19th century in the town of Sarreguemines, the factory became well-known for its artistic collaborations, including with Alsatian artist Henri Loux, whose illustrations were featured in the popular "Obernai" series. The Obernai collection typically showcases charming rural and pastoral scenes of Alsace, capturing the region's culture and lifestyle.
