Imperial Viennese Porcelain Plate made in Sorgenthal period (1802) ORIGIN OF MANUFACTORY: Vienna / Old Imperial Austrian Porcelain Manufactory Made 1802 Material: Porcelain Technique of manufacture: Hand painted white porcelain Antique Viennese plate deriving from Austrian imperial porcelain manufactory, made in finest manner: it is white porcelain with multicolored paintings of highest quality. The plate presented here is abundantly painted with a Veduta in middle area, edged by golden painted elliptic border. It is a view of the city of Baden near Vienna: human beings walking on the meadows edging the small river Schwechat, surrounded by attractive landscape of the so-said Helenental visible in foreground, with view of Baden City in background. The plate is edged by golden painted wooden framework. Draft of this picture is an etching coloured by hand, deriving from the collection of King George the Third of England, nowadays in the British Library in London (please look at the attached picture). Mentioned etching traces back to a watercolour painting once made by Laurenz Janscha (1749-1812), an Austrian-Slovenian landscape painter & etcher who had been pupil of well-known Austrian landscape painter Johann Christian Brand (1722-1795). Janscha taught landscape painting at Viennese Academy of Fine Arts as from year 1797 / he became professor in 1811: This painter had created the series in watercolors technique 'Sammlung von Aussichten der Residenzstadt Wien von ihren Vorstaedten und einigen umliegenden Oertern' (= Collection of Views of Imperial City of Vienna, of its suburbs as well as of some of surrounding locations) which was published by Viennese publishers via coloured etchings as from year 1785 then. - The plate presented here is part of a series, too / a second plate obviously deriving from same series is now in Viennese Augarten Museum, depicting the so-said 'SEUFZERALLEE' (= AVENUE OF SIGHS) IN GARDEN OF AUGARTEN CASTLE (1801) which is published in Catalogue of Exhibition 'Ewig Schön - 300 Jahre Wiener Porzellan' (= Eternal Beauty - 300 Years Viennese Porcelain), Vienna, Augarten Museum 2018, picture 87 on page 105 (please look at the picture attached above). Marks: Imperial Viennese porcelain blue beehive mark (underglazed) Painter's signature 'Scheidt' or 'Scheidl' Former's number 42 Dated '802 ( =1802 ) Size: height (frame included): 1.57 inches (= 4.0 cm) diameter of plate: 9.64 inches (= 24.5 cm) It is porcelain of highest quality, manufactured in period when Conrad Soergel Von Sorgenthal had direction of Viennese imperial porcelain manufactory (1784-1805). in very good condition / there aren't any damages & any imperfections existing.
