About the Item

Formidable husband and wife team Tobia and Afra Scarpa met while studying architecture at the University luav di Venezia in the 1950s. Their distinctive oeuvre, produced over half a century, imbues generous forms with a fine Italian sensibility. Their work is displayed in the Louvre and New York’s MoMA. The painted metal frame of this sought-after floor lamp is sheathed in cloth for ultimate diffusion. The fabric is gathered at the top and cascades down to a wider base, producing a pleasing sense of movement. Illumination is provided by three bulbs. The lamp is operated by a foot switch and was recently rewired and PAT tested to UK standards. The fabric shade has been newly remade true to original design, in linen.
