About the Item

Pair of ceiling-to-floor neon lamps in painted metal and brass, model It8, manufactured by Tecno and designed by Osvaldo Borsani, 1950s. These lamps connect ceiling and floor with a sense of continuity created by the luminous beam. A long lampshade conceals the neon tubes, which diffuse light evenly. They provide indirect lighting, making them ideal for discreet placement even in larger spaces. The supports holding the neon tube are equipped with joints that allow for adjustments based on specific needs. The design effort successfully integrated the essential neon transformer within the structure itself, preserving the purity of the form. Designed by Osvaldo Borsani, this pair of ceiling-to-floor lamps exemplifies the pursuit of essential design that defined the early 1950s. Along with other creations from this period, they showcase an uncompromising focus on simplicity. Initially created for Tecno's exhibition displays at the XV Triennale di Milano in 1954, these lamps were later included in the company’s catalog two years later. Made of folded sheet metal and brass, they are a testament to Tecno’s innovative approach under the guidance of the Borsani brothers, combining clear vision and meticulous design. Even today, these objects remain timeless and inspiring. Dimensions: 15W × 13D × 330H (max) cm
